Biggest crock of bullshyt ever

Lmaoooooo
You got cats on here who say people in their 40s are old, which is dumb. Can we just accept that “age” works along a spectrum that intersects science and society? Physically, people in their 40s (i would argue 50s, as well) are still young. But, in a culture increasingly preoccupied with the preservation of youth, they’re seen as ancient. I think it’s a tug-of-war between the ageist impulses of an insecure society and the fundamental truths about our physiological makeup.

Though, I could also be influenced by my experience as a black man, knowing how differently we age - in appearance, at least - to everyone else. For black people, 30s really are the new 20s, 40s the new 30s, 50s the new 40s, and so on.

I turned 40 last October. Life is wonderful. Got a beautiful wife and three kids 15,6, and 4. Been in my career for about 16 years now and still progressing. The get up and sit down grunts are real :mjlol:. The life lessons my parents taught me as a teenager that I chalked up to old people shyt, I find myself relaying to my 15 Year old son. Who by the way doesn't listen lol. Need to get in shape though for real lose about 50 pounds.

This is bullshyt :russ:

When your metabolism begins to slow down, start to lose your hair, you can’t go on benders like you used to, you can’t function at work off of 3-4 hours of sleep the previous night…you’re fukking old

typically all this takes place late 20s early 30s

you can take care of yourself and look good for your age but all that other stuff is bullshyt

Don't realized the gems that were given to you as a youth until your are too old to recognize it. Probably going to have to learn the hard way just like us when we was young :francis:.

I’m in great shape and workout 5 days a week.

I’m making good money and don’t care about a lot of the stupid shyt I did when I was in my 20’s and 30’s.

40’s ain’t so bad :ehh:

Couple aches and pains, mostly cause I have stopped exercising during the pandemic.

But otherwise, 40's are fukking lit.

I have more money and more wisdom and more self-assurance than at any other point in my life. :myman:

I care less and less about the opinions of others with each passing day. :myman:

I still have good health, 90% of my youthful good looks (don't smoke or drink, kids), without any of the anxiety of youth. :win:

Now, I will say that a big part of the reason my 40's kick ass is because I never got married.

So if you're planning on getting married, I can't speak on it.
To your point about not being married :

Divorce was the best thing I ever did.

The process sucked at first, but it was best in the long run.

and a big part of my marriage frustration was the fact that I knew I could still pull nice looking women. So why put up with her shyt?

And she knew it too, which is why she was super jealous all the time.

:flabbynsick: Brehs are better off married after 35.

But if a breh stays in shape and has his money and priorities right then 40’s are lit.

Just got here. Age is just a number. I’d treat your body right and you will be fine. My biggest issue is the grey hair especially my facial hair. Grey nose hair too.

Does life change when you hit the 4-0?

Do you think your 40s are your prime where you're mentally at your peak, but still young enough to get shyt done and make big moves?

Any aches and pains? :flabbynsick:

Does anything surprise you anymore?

I'd say the worst for me is getting back into rythm. Like exercising, walking, etc. Once I stop for whatever reason it's hard as hell to get back on track. Also I take more time to recuperate if I go out or stay up late. Mentally I was at my peak when I was in university so that was already years ago, back then I could spend hours reading learning and understanding basically anything you threw at me, but I'm kind of sharper in everyday life now so I guess it kind of balances out. No specific aches or pains except those times I over-exercice. And yes things still surprise me, I'm always on the look out for new art/movies/music/etc so there's always some good new stuff that pleasantly surprises me. I'm pretty sure that's one way to still "feel young", once you lose that curiosity and become content with the same old stuff that's when you're officialy old I would think, mentally.
