Did not expect the type of off-kilter, dark humor tone the film has. Definitely more comedic than I expected when it came to the deaths. Very, weird family dynamic at the center of the movie.

I binged through this excellent 4 part documentary on the making of Robocop.
It’s the most thorough doc I’ve ever seen on a the making of a movie or show. It goes through just about every scene in the movie. They interview many actors, including those only in one scene. They talk about how the special effects were done and how many hours it took to apply the makeup in certain scenes. It was also filmed in Dallas in the summer in over 100 degree weather.
Paul Verhoeven is a crazy director and Peter Weller would annoy others with his method acting, insisting that everyone call him Robo or Murphy. He would say to the set “Robo wants an Oreo” and one assistant’s job was to carry the cookies around and give him Oreos when he demanded it.
