Filmstruck by far is the GOAT right now.

I like the concept of MUBi but i've tried the free trial a few times from podcasts and I think they're a lil too far left for me.

Mubi is hit and miss, but compared to Fandor which is plain wtf:dwillhuh:..it has some gems beyond a few duds.

Phoenix Forgotten: Started ok but was :beli:and I actually like these kind of movies

Wonder Woman: Definitely the best non-Batman DC movie, and Gal Gadot :shaq: I was also pleasantly surprised to see Danny Houston, great character actor

Watched Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children - it had some fun moments, anytime the kids are working together towards the end. Also some really boring and dull ones, anything not having to do with the special kids. Lead character was not good, should have let the actor use his natural accent. Sam Jackson is having fun anytime he's on screen though.

The latest movie by Kim Ki-duk about a North Korean fisherman who accidentally finds his boat drifting to South Korea. There he undergoes endless interrogation to make sure he's not a spy, targeted by a ruthless intelligence officer but protected by a young bodyguard. All the man wants is to return to his family, but the longer he stays imprisoned, the more difficult it will be for him to go back to his old life where the North Korean intelligence service is waiting to question him too.

Even without the current political situation in Korea this is a deep, and layered exploration of a country that is caught between two identities, both of which try to make their reality look nicer than it really is. It cleverly plays into topics like patriotism and materialism, but most of all the futility of trying to claim a citizen's rights as your own. Not much for entertainment, but very important education.
