70s & 80s De Palma got this hypnotic air to his films, even if they don’t all land. Stylistically, this one fires on all cylinders and the conspiracy narrative does just enough to keep me engaged. I think The Conversation is my favorite out of the paranoid crime thriller bunch but this is always a fun time.

Tarantino said it’s one of the three films he’d make sure to have on a deserted island and while it wouldn’t be one of mine, I get it.

Apocalyptic love story/thriller from the late 80s.

Obviously not exactly the most feel-good movie given it’s about nuclear war, but it’s very good.

Anthony Edwards stars in it, a couple years after Top Gun and a few years before ER. He recently got married to actress who is his love interest in the movie.

I rewatched this maybe a year ago, it’s excellent.

I think it’s De Palma’s best movie.

It’s based on a 60s movie called Blow Up, but I haven’t gotten around to seeing that yet.

This was high-tier mid to me. Story was gripping all the way through, but something about it felt off. Like it played itself too safe and borderline awkward at times between the writing and acting. Reminded me of what I’d come across on daytime TNT or Lifetime in the mid 2000s. Then I look up to see who the director was and it all clicked together.

If this is Clint’s last film, I don’t hate it for him. It’s certainly entertaining. At the same time, I’m seeing a lot of hype on social media like it’s some hidden masterpiece which it just does not come across as. I can see why WBD didn’t know what to do with it.

Really thought it would end with Hoult’s character leading the jury to a not guilty verdict, only to eventually find out he actually did hit a deer and let a murderer get off scot free.

I feel like that was a big missed opportunity. It’s something that would still play into the (heavy-handed) message of justice system failures here.

With what we actually ended up getting, I just can’t buy Collete throwing away her entire career in the drain for this guy. The film has moments of silliness, but this one takes the cake.

Just watched this from 2018 staring Rachel McAdams and Rachel Weisz. Typical forbidden love drama, but lord have mercy that sex scene was damn near a porn scene. They were doing shyt I've seen actors do before. I mean I'm sure they have, but I've just never seen it until this movie.

Some pretty fun exaggerated action, although nothing that completely blew me away. I did find myself really getting into the story and the bond between the core characters. The Walled In City makes for a great setting too.

I saw this in 2007, ended up rewatching it over the weekend and it's still great. Depressing and inspiring at the same time.

I've heard about this since it came out but never got around to checking it out. takes place during Xmas so I figured I'd watch it finally. I enjoyed this a lot Very quick pacing and funny as hell. First Martin McDonagh I'd seen was Banshees of Inisherin so this tarantino/guy ritchie vibe was a bit jarring at first but I fukked with it by the end. 8.5/10 for me

also did a rewatch of the toy story trilogy. (we don't talk about 4) Off a Fresh watch I'd say 2 > 3 > 1

I was going to ask you for a fade but now I got to give props this movie was interesting. Not the best thing in the world but it’s brilliant how they blend the genres together that way.

It's such a morbid ending...I'm sure back then it was far more shocking than how it would've been reacted to today even though it is still well done and certainly like you said...a gut punch

they could have cut 20 minutes out of it and not missed the beats they were trying to hit. I'll give it a 7 out of 10.

Carmen Ejogo ass in them jeans 10/10.

Mr. mom had to deal with being a stay home father in your 30s, this about taking kids by yourself in you, they say 60s, but he's in his 70s. The movie centers around Keaton and his full grown daughter Mila Kunis. It also has a message that disappointment and abandonment issues continue late in life.

Magnificent Seven if Magnificent Seven was in Pakistan/Afghanistan and was mostly women operatives and beta sympathizers, 6/10
