THERE ARE NO STARS

people just watching because it's the WWE and hoping their favorite old timer returns. WWE isn't the NFL, it's not going to survive like this. They're making the most money they ever did on the LEAST amount of fans they ever had. This bubble were burst

Oldberg vs Lesnar main eventing in 2016 would be on par with Lennox Lewis vs Mike Tyson this Saturday night

I mean he's right in that WWE cannot create new stars.. or at least doesn't give the talent a chance to become a star, but it's still a business that thrives when it needs to. Mania sells itself.. hell any show in a big market city sells itself. They could do more to make themselves bigger in the eyes of the mainstream media.. but they aren't hurting.

Also, calling McGregor vs. whoever he fought (I'm a casual UFC fan and even I don't know without looking it up) "Ali/Fraiser" because you had 5 guys in your living room watching it is ridiculous. I had over 40 people at the bar I work at for a private WrestleMania 32 party.. does that make it Ali/Fraiser? I had ten people in my living room for Pac-Man vs Mayweather, and every UFC fan there was whining "This is why UFC is so much better, boxing is dead!" Still gave up the 10 bucks to come watch it.

UFC is big, but only the larger than life characters draw any attention from casual fans. Just like wrestling. Just like boxing. You think anyone who isn't a diehard combat sports fan cares about Cormier vs. Johnson? Nah.

Boxing is dead:sas2:

Let me know when UFC breaks mayweather vs Pacquiao record that was set just last year :sas2:

They made boxing look slow?

Nothing is slower than seeing two dudes on the floor hugging and giving each other love taps :dame:

WWE is a brand. Mania will do great on name value alone. I get the no new stars argument but if people want to pay to see Taker wrestle at the age of "60" then it's business as usual:hubie:

McGregor Diaz 2 fights alone this year have probably outdrawn every PPV post May-Pac. May/Pac was a Fingerpoke Of Doom to the sport of boxing none of these nikkas can draw shyt that's why they taking rematch because Pacman is a complete afterthought in 2016 UFC is shytting over Boxing and its not even close with the demos that matter. Wasn't no one giving a fukking about no Danny Garcia fight Saturday people don't even know Kovalev and Ward (2 top 5 P4P) guys are even fighting this weekend shyt has no buzz.

Yeah UFC had some bad breaks lately with guys falling off or nikkas getting suspended. I got more faith in guys getting over in UFC than I do WWE or Boxing though they sabotage each other so much its a damn shame. Too many old buzzards in the game McMahon and Arum gotta go

Criticize the Undertaker for being super old when you're a year older than him, brehs

:russ: :lolbron: :mjlol:

Colin Cowherd and Skip Bayless aren't professional athletes or wrestlers so your point is moot.
He's absolutely right. FINALLY somebody in the "mainstream media" to call WWE out for what it is.

There's nobody even ON THE RIGHT TRACK TO being a Conor McGregor right now in WWE. There won't be until Linda takes that Trump cabinet job and Vince retires. At the very earliest.

Hand the keys over to the Kliq already for Christ's sake.

Yeah because Triple H and Stephanie all in the videos and inserting themselves in major feuds is really gonna help build stars. :mjlol:

First of all, why are you so defensive of Colin Cowherd, when he called a man younger than him "like 80 years old"? You can't make an old joke about somebody who's younger than you, that doesn't make any sense. That's like Rush Limbaugh insulting someone for being fat. It's hypocritical at the very least.

Secondly, his point was that WWE couldn't produce it's own talent. Well, his channel also fails in that regard because they're just siphoning off ex-ESPN stars. Such as himself, and Skip Bayless.

To be fair Fox Sports 1 is a pretty new channel. WWE has been around forever.

WWE is at a point where they don't need that 1 top guy like Hogan, Austin, Rock, Cena. It's become more of a group run thing now that the brand split has happened.

And business is in the toilet.

To say they don't need a Rock or Austin is absurd. Business has been in a slow decline since the moment Austin and Rock began to phase themselves out.

And no amount of good booking, dropping PG, turning Reigns heel etc will make a damn bit of difference to their business if they don't have a legit stars propping it all up. The attitude era would be nothing without Austin as it's lightning rod. Same thing with Hogan in '85.

You might say, but oh it's a different era..it's all about the brand, not the stars. Yes it is a different era, an era with record low ratings and public interest. The formula clearly doesn't work and this company desperately needs new stars.
