Sometimes it feels like none of us have left the plantation and our athletes/rappers/celebs are the ones who make it to the auction block. What good is being a millionaire when you are still subject to laws that relegate you to being a peon?
I understand both sides of this argument but skilled enslaved workers were compensated as well and worked to take themselves and their families out of poverty. Most of the revolts led by enslaved people (that history tells us about) were led by those with access (a form of privilege in a fukked way) to the white social structure to understand what they were fighting.
on the other hand, the auction block was a place where they used pseudoscience to evaluate the worth of black people. We got an auction block downtown in my city right across from a fukking federal courthouse. That’s where the auctioning happens when they are swapping out cases like Pokémon cards. But two things can be true so I see the pros and cons

Some were paid, and worked to free their kin as well. That’s how some of the first blacks people became free in the south before the civil war
The work conditions aren't the same obviously but the practice of lining up naked men to assume their fit and health is akin to make such a comparison.
I understand your point of view but I also understand the methods of organization from slavery persists.
They make millions sure, but that is peanuts to the billions that the owners take. I wouldn't get so bogged down by some of the context as you would miss the context being presented.

Didn’t know you could be forced to play football and make millions. It’s a physical sport, it might not look good, but they measure every ligament basically for all players. Every single one (white and whatever else). I used to say this shyt when I was like 18 until I matured. It’s disrespectful to our ancestors. It’s some new age bullshyt. Nobody arguing the NFL ain’t racist as hell. But cmon. He has a lot more intelligence to say this in other ways that point out racism without using an extreme word such as slavery
