yall nikkas so use to listening to bullshyt yall downing the greatest sound in hiphop history....2000 soul sample era is the greatest era in hiphop as far as production go

every producer became legends except for bink hahahaha

Kanye soul sampled better than Blaze did.

I'm sorry but Heart of the City is just....genius.

Girls, Girls, Girls, was decent but Kanye was a genius with finding rare samples and flipping them.

Lies...complete utter lies.

Kanye was at least 50% of the reason Blueprint was a classic.
More like 25%

Tho he did do what's probably the most impactful record on the album, Takeover. But that track is far from having the greatest beat.

I have a hard time listening to College Dropout because it reminds me that there was time not too long ago when Kanye was actually a real person with real relatable problems and not the caricature that he is today. :francis:

Yes they did.

What do we mean by, "aged well"?

If we're talking about replay value, then, yes, Illmatic and Ready to Die have aged well.

However, neither of those albums sound like modern rap music. They sound like they were released in 1994, just like College Dropout sounds like it was released in 2004. In that sense, they haven't aged well.

Breh, every track on Blueprint produced by Kanye was a banger.

Kanye's sampling sounded like a studio composed tracks with more depth and details, something a PRODUCER would make.

Just Blaze's beats sounded like the shyt off of Fruity Loops. Good but not great.

It's no comparison.

of course that's what we're talking about. Replay value is what determines a classic/age-well

However, neither of those albums sound like modern rap music.

They're not supposed to. And it would be impossible for them to sound like modern rap anyway.

It's a good thing too, given the toiletry of modern rap.

They sound like they were released in 1994, just like College Dropout sounds like it was released in 2004. In that sense, they haven't aged well.

College Dropout sounds like 2004 and in a corny way

Illmatic/Ready to Die sounds like 1994, in a cool way. So essentially, it's timeless. Thriller sounds like 1982. In a great way. It's timeless.

Won't virtually EVERY album sound dated after a couple years? Hip-Hop has phases, of course something from 10 YEARS AGO will sound dated. I don't get when people use that as a knock against an album. If it slaps it slaps, IDGAF when it came out or if it doesn't sound like something released within the past 6 months.

its more about quality(or lack thereof) rather than sound.

of course an album from 11 years ago isnt gonna sound like it was made yesterday. its not supposed to.

Album didn't age well because ye ain't the same. Can't listen to dropout without turning that shyt off. Look at what ole boy dun turned into.. Smh

turned into?

kanye was ALWAYS a weirdo.

just blaze's beats were more popular.

and the idea of blueprint being a classic is shakey but thats for another thread.

1. "Heart of The City" was played in Chrysler Commercials and for the American Gangster Trailer, Takeover contributed to one of the biggest and best Hip-Hop battles in history, and Izzo (H to the O) was the biggest single from the album. Tell me what Just Blaze produced songs were "more popular" than that?

2. Blueprint made sped up soul samples popular again and made it a popular sound for Hip-Hop for most of the decade and Blueprint is listed as one of the top 10 greatest albums of 2000's. Some would argue it was probably Jays best album. It's def in the classic convo.
