common has a really good discography. My only weak album is universal mind control. Unpopular opinion i actually liked electric circus.

Common is an MC that is definitely in that Top 15-20 range.

I will say this though, One Day It'll All Makes Sense is one of the most underrated albums ever. That album deserves every bit of the amount of praise that BE gets and then some.

Finding Forever is another overlooked album in his catalog. The only thing weak about that album is the Pop culture celebrity references.

Everyone has their own opinion, but One Day It'll All Make Sense is my personal favorite. Thats to me when he started to get some commercial recognition and Canibus was the hottest featured artist at the time....Making A Name For Ourselves is a classic track.

What wasn't classic about those two albums? Especially Mr. Scarface is Back? That one is classic...Last of A dying Breed is debatable...the lowest it could get is a 4.5/5

i didn't say they were bad, just not classic. mr.scarface is back is way dated to me but dope for back then.

last of a dying breed was ok.

untouchable is his overlooked album. the world is yours, the diary, untouchable, and the fix are his classics to me. especially the last 3.

damn, face's catalog is cray for the most part.

if it wasn't for dilla & kanye, he wouldn't be mentioned as much

while on the other hand, nas has always rapped over garbage beats and is still mentioned among the greats

so yeah, common is overrated..he don't have any stand out verses either

whoa chi town breh you're gonna put kanye up their but not NO ID?

Resurrection :ohlawd:
Like Water For Chocolate :win:
Be :whew:

Can't speak on the other albums, cuz these were all I listened to. And I bought all these joints :jawalrus:

But Resurrection is a top 5 album for me. I can really only explain it as the essence of hip hop as an artform. Just how he plays around with concepts, intro/retrospection, delivery, wordplay etc. It's light-hearted hip hop acrobatics with a jazzy/scratched up soundscape.

I usually skip "I Used to Love HER" (metaphorical bytches still ain't shyt; Com, you share her :shaq:), but I'll keep this on repeat :myman:

As a sidenote, IIRC, Electric Circus was right around the time he was really deep with Erykah. I truly feel that personally, his mind was somewhere else. He may view it as maturity, but it was a quick and drastic change. I think he was trying too hard to be different...with the clothes and all. Call me crazy but I think he was trying to compete with Andre 3000, in more ways than one. I could never get into that album. Now granted, because some say it was underrated, I will go back and check it out again but with that being said, sometimes an album can be good musically but not fall into what I catagorize as HIP HOP, therefore I dont get into it. If I want R&B, I throw it on, likewise with Jazz, Funk, etc....if my taste buds are craving HIP HOP, you better believe thats what I want right then, if not, it dont taste right.

My biggest gripe per se with common is that he can be too monotone. But once you come to the realization that's him you either opt not to listen or choose to
