But how did that poverty occur? It didn't just happen out of nowhere.
What people always fail to admit is that Black people have been systematically prevented from acquiring wealth anywhere. That's why I say after slavery shyt got more fukked up.
You don't think the average Black person wasn't trying to rebuild his/her life? When Black people got free, they were ecstatic at owning land and making something of themselves. Then comes Jim Crow, Ku Klux, raids on businesses and a host of pure fukkery. Then after 'integration', Black people still don't have access to jobs. and affirmative action does more to employ White women than any other minority.
Poverty is systematic. It doesn't just show up. And poverty is THE most potent part of racism (after that, it's law enforcement). You take poverty away, racism collapses overnight.
well…thats partially true.
150yrs ago the overwhelming majority of black people were illiterate…so yes…we had some catching up to do.
but…
that still doesn't help anyone today.
Anyone w/ the right mindset, skills, and drive can make it in this country now.
We are spending way too much time talking about the past…and not now.
So what does constantly talking about the past do? Black folks have been doing that for 50+ yrs…what the kids talk about today, is the same shyt I was talking about as a kid, etc…
at some point we need to be telling the youth what is needed to make it…because constantly talking about "white supremacy" gives off the idea that there is no hope for them.
