The male to female ratio in India got them suspect off top....However we spin it there are standards for masculinity and femininity,some cultures know better than others....Any man willing to not only stray from his societys standards,but jump over to the side of femininity doesn't care about his manhood and how he's perceived.

See that's just it, to me at least, one of the MAIN components of "manhood" to me is being able to cast aside other peoples perceptions of you if they inhibit who you really are, to what you want to do with your life....that is much more brave and "manly" to me than conformity for the sake of keeping up appearance. ESPECIALLY in the face of societies standards being that a lot of them really don't serve us, the idea that you gotta fukk this amount of women, or beat up this amount of people to be masculine has got a lot of these nikkas playing roles that they aren't really cut out for all because they so much about how other men perceive them.

You a real nikka so I know you understand how one can grow up with the warped perception that DOING TIME makes you a man or a whole host of other stupid, self destructive shyt..I grew up in a setting where caring how nikkas perceived me could have put me in a box, even with me avoiding that fate, I still did things that were outside of my true nature to adhere to societal standards of manhood that had a detrimental effect on my life going forward from there which in hindsight really was the LEAST important thing to be considering at that time in my life...that Clint Eastwood complex doesn't work for nikkas like it does white folks.

He's saying that the THEATER involved in propping up the social constructs of masculinity and how much you adhere to them shouldn't determine how much of a man you are, manhood is something you define and thus emulate (perform) based on whatever concept/ideals you've been exposed to.

Men in India hold hands when they walk down the street, that's not "manly" here in the states, then again the world is bigger than your (not you personally) particular reality box.

Dope post,and I feel you...but the self destructive shyt that we grew up with are moreso a product of hypermasculinity in our culture,thats something a lot of us have to work out on our own as we grow up gradually because it is destructive,im still working on it....So maybe we can say the hypermasculinity in the environments we grew up in are not all that healthy and we overexaggerate the ideas of manhood....But we can also say a man who is willing to jump the shark and participate in things that society has agreed are womanly/feminine I don't consider that to be brave at all,he goin too damn far at that point...It certainly could just be a generational thing where they have a different idea of masculinity....just like we had a different idea of masculinity than the generations that came before us,only difference is they thought we looked and acted like fools instead of homos....Its weird two generations only a decade apart have two separate ideologys on what masculinity is.....ours is hypermasculine and theres is androgynous

The extreme focus on being a man, which is represented by a testosterone-dripping, muscular mandingo, as opposed to a boy. Then there's the fear of being 'infiltrated' which is not so far off from action movie logic (hence ending the clip with Arnold) in which the focus is on the male body and how it reflects the hard rigid logic of masculinity. Men are supposed to be impenetrable, be it by weaponry or phalluses. When Arnold jams a pipe through the bad guy's chest in Commando, it's him going "I've got the bigger dikk and I've just fukked you with it." At a certain point the whole thing is just ridiculous, the obsession with presenting as overly masculine.
