Wiz Khalifa was not an industry plant. He was actually scooped up by Rostrum and had their backing from as far back as POTC. I remember seeing him live in 2005...he really didn't even blow up in Pittsburgh until around the time "Say Yea" came out. He had a City Paper cover, a couple of heads in the Pittsburgh hip-hop scene (mainly stemming from The Shadow Lounge) talking about him, so to say he didn't make a comeup in his own hometown and he's hated in Pittsburgh is really funny and untrue. We love Wiz son! But from 2005-2010 (when he really blew up with Kush & OJ) he had switched up his style numerous times. Went from street, to hipster, to stoner/weed/swag rapper. Basically with him, Rostrum gave him a foundation to work with and spread his music. He definitely was not a plant, but he had support nonetheless that allowed him to succeed. Mac Miller was indie and he used facebook, twitter, and youtube like Soulja Boy to gain a following. Eventually he got put on by Rostrum...and they have connects for sure. But that was only after he had a buzz going.
I'm from Pittsburgh...so I have met Wiz and Mac on numerous occasions. Nothing about their success was "planted".
