No; we aren't just one massive political entity, we are a collection of individual states. A strict popular vote gives too much political power to high density states, imo.

Do you know why it gives so much power to high density states? Because thats where the PEOPLE are. Why do you deserve a ton of power if you live in a flyover state? You dont. if droves of people from that state are leaving for larger cities. it is what it is. Get ya weight up. or shut up.

Those people in those fly over states or fly over cities in the known states dont even represent most americans. they represent a very small slither of the country. how on earth are you going to allow a slither pick a president EVER? it makes zero sense. in that case if we're letting minorities choose our pres. then let blacks pick. all whites and other nationalities. stay home. we got this. I promise you this, even with our few broken people like kanye. We would never vote for trump or anyone like trump.

Whites being marginalized? In America?:hhh:

Trump is the result of white resentment towards Obama. Nothing more, nothing less.

If it was JUST about white resentment, then why was Bernie Sanders being pushed?

Hilary represents Investment Bankers, Silicon Valley, CEOs, lobbyers, limousine liberals, career politicians, continuing the status quo, pro-immigration, pro-globalization, political dynasties, #metoo Movement, patronizing black/lower class voters without offering anything real.
Bernie represents blue collar America, socialist policies such as UBI, free healthcare, free college, reducing the deficit, reducing tax cuts for the rich, being hard on corporate corruption, reforming Wall Street, gun reform, supporting Unions, supported legal immigration but was against bringing thousands of people to compete against American kids.
Even if it was a lie, Trump represents rural America, protectionism, anti-immigration, anti-outsourcing, building a wall, political incorrectness, policies slanted towards putting America first even if it endangers our standing with our allies. And yes, racism.

Now who's the odd ball out of group.

It wasn't Trump.

We're still dealing with the aftermath of the Great Recession. Wall Street is back churning but, the jobs haven't come back. You had two populists on either side of the spectrum and the Democrats choose to run the face of the Establishment :mjlol:

This is what it looks like when the American people elect a white trash, racist, sexist, xenophobic fukkface clown. It’s a miracle that it took this long for idiocracy to happen
Not really.

Andrew Jackson and Andrew Johnson were the 19th century version of Trump.

Woodrow Wilson and (to some extent) Richard Nixon & Ronald Reagan were the 20th century version of Trump.

Why shouldn't a state with less people have less influence? What's unfair about that?

Do you know why it gives so much power to high density states? Because thats where the PEOPLE are. Why do you deserve a ton of power if you live in a flyover state?
This reminds me of the ‘those who pay more in taxes should have more say’ nonsense.
:mjlol:

America is made up of United States(don’t even ask me how:jawalrus:)not individuals. These states joined and remain in the union with the expectation of equal say.
Break that agreement and successions becomes a reality.

Trump got y’all so mad you’re ready to risk the whole union.

Could you imagine the fukkery of more than two candidates running say Bernie and Paul as third party and the country ending up with a president who only won 25% of the popular vote.
:russ:
:ehh:Progressives would have to take over the DNC or sit all the way down in such a system, otherwise the right wins easily.

This seems stupid. As much as people want to bash the electoral college, which has its issues, it was not the reason Clinton lost. Clinton was the reason she lost. Plus, the vast majority of those 3 million votes came from California alone. This solves nothing. It doesn't even address the actual issues in this election. Which were many. But the EC was the least of them all.
Your analysis makes no sense. If she had over 3 million more votes then the electoral college is why she lost.

2016 Election Results: President Live Map by State, Real-Time Voting Updates

To say a candiate needs to just focus on the bog 3 states like texas cali and ny is false, there are voters on both sides of the party whos votes were wasted because they didnt get the majority
Nobody has said that candidates should focus on the big states. All we're saying that is that more populated states should naturally have more say.

Most of the top 10 most populated states are purple & red states anyways:

1. California (Blue state)
2. Texas (Red or red-leaning state)
3. Florida (Purple state)
4. New York (Blue state)
5. Illinois (Blue state)
6. Pennsylvania (Purple state)
7. Ohio (Purple or red-leaning state)
8. Georgia (Red state)
9. North Carolina (Purple state)
10. Michigan (Purple or blue-leaning state)

Yet conservatives act as if "only California and New York would decide presidential elections". No, they would not:heh:

:russ:@ this skewed shyt. True blue California, New York and Illinois have damn near more people than all those other states combined and the majority of the other states are purple.
:deadmanny:
Don’t do this...
Don’t try to spin this as being in anyway not a slam dunk for Dems.

Hell the two most populated red states combined are crushed by California alone.
You can’t be serious.

:ehh:
Unless you’re a democrat... in which case... you really don’t see anything wrong with these numbers.

There’s much better reasons to not take my advice.:pachaha:

But for real, it can’t be that difficult to see how having all but two of the most populated states(top 5) locked up and being able to focus solely on purple states isn’t an advantage.
