Console-only gamers - how much do you think it would cost to build a PC > next gen??

All most PC gamers need is valve with steam pumping everything out. PC games will also start looking much better than PS4/XBOX One games within 6 months after launching. Seriously...a 7850 is considered almost mid-range at this point.

Also, I see a break-through in emulation pretty soon

Can't go wrong with the PC/PS4 combo but PS4 still would be the best single experience/bang for your buck for the upcoming gen. (just as PS3 was/is this gen)


There's no where else you can obtain those great Sony exclusives but through a Sony console. Most would agree that the definitive game series this gen was Uncharted, which was no where to be found on PC.

$350 with a intel processor and amd card would out perform $350 with AMD processor and nvidia graphics card and you can go up from there any price range and it would be the same

Nah I actually agree though. AMD's GPU value can't be ignored at those price ranges. Especially for people like me that overclock everything. There shyt is just more overclock friendly at the moment. My only gripes with them are no Physx, terrible crossfire support, and weak drivers compared to Nvidia. I'd complain about how loud their blower cards are but I watercool everythang. Being that I will always be a 2 card user and fukks with Physx heavy they just ain't for me,

Their vendors are trash as well. If I have an issue I much rather deal with EVGA.

noob question but can u have both an Nvidia and AMD card on ur system at the same time or would that be retarded and impossible because they'd have to be the same brand/model?

Depends on what you consider the bang part. People only look at the raw FPS per dollar as if that's the only determining factor of the bang. Then when they go to install those drivers and have to wait for proper ones for each game release, the noise, the heat, they come to the realization they should have just went with the green team.

to take advantage of both at the same time? Nah. There were some hacks a couple of years back in where people were using a high end AMD card along with a low end nvidia card to use it as Physx (I was one of them ), but at the end of the day it isn't worth it. Just pick a side and move from there.

To crossfire/SLI you need the same model card.

Question in the thread title. I'm curious to see the opinions and thoughts of people that don't build PCs. How much do you think it would take to build a PC who's graphics and performance match that of XBox One and/or PS4?

that's your first issue. you're not gonna include shipping and handling and LABOR.. cause i'd say 90% of people who buy consoles, couldn't build a PC from scratch if they wanted to. so the first thing we'd think is how much some Alienware shyt costs or something

i know you could probably build one for about the price of a console.. maybe a little less or more, at the same time a little less or more powerful



but none of that matters because you're not building a ps4.. you go buy one and never upgrade it ever again in life. you build your own pc and everything you got in it will be old in 2 years and it won't be good enough to run the best games of 2015. while a console will be running their top graphical games until they decide to stop making them

This about what it will take to meet or beat X1/Ps4 graphics. 1GB is fine for 1080p gaming the same resolution the console will game at.
