I wouldn't claim a new religion at this stage in my life. I guess that would include being absolutely convinced that the new thing was true. Literally true.

A muslim is simply a person who submits to God. Technically, all of the prophets, including Adam, Abraham, and Jesus, did this. The organized form of Islam didn't arrive until the prophet Muhammad, but the principle of Islam has been around since Adam and Eve.
