So Cal
Slimm Calhoun
Cool breeze
Backbone

All dropped one album and that was it...:francis:
Slimm and backbone have mixtapes this decade. Cool breeze ain't dropped a project in 20 years.

He has a right to feel how he does.. I wanted that Second Album and it's a shame we didnt get it..

WitchDoctor album was heavily slept on as well..

DMX has substance abuse problems all throughout his career.. Didnt stop him.

I think the Fact that he was The only True Street Dude in The Crew played a Major Role in things as well..

In the article he referred to Outkast as Kiddie Music at the time.. So i can imagine some of the behind the scenes shyt that took place lol

Plus the fact Gipp was out performing the song without him.. and they was supposed to be tight got shyt off on the wrong foot...
Goodie mob was street dudes as well.

Him being bitter about that dirty south shyt is what held him back imo. Look at this excerpt from another interview back in 01.
As far as the artists in DF, I don’t really have like a relationship with them. I have a relationship with Organized Noise. Y’know what I’m saying? We keep things strictly business. You have to do that kind of business stuff. For example, with Outkast, their clothing company, when I see ‘Dirty South’ on clothes, it’s like ‘Whoa! We ain’t that cool.’ If Fubu does it, it’s cool because they are just a clothing company. But if we all came up together, sat in the studio, did each other’s stuff and get up to make some money. You reach back at something you like and it’s yours. I looked at that kind of funny. There ain’t no hard feelings but you have to be real careful about that stuff. I just try to keep sh*t strictly business with artists. My producers are Organized Noise and I’ll always be down with them until the end. They put me in the game, not Outkast and Goodie Mob. Organized Noise put us all in the game. I actually like to keep my distance as far as hanging.

:francis: one of the most legendary collectives ever, but you ain't fukking with nobody because you bitter about the dirty south shyt? It's not even like nikkas think outkast made that shyt up.

Well said, breh. I hope it didn’t come off like I was excusing his bitterness. Just coming from a point of sympathy.

I didn’t know he experienced problems with substance abuse.

What was it, alcohol?

Its all good bro - I was around in them days and remember a LOT.
Cool Breeze played himself acting all "business" and not ingratiating himself amongst the family.
He definitely was NOT the only street dude in the family and when he took that business stance he made himself an outkast
no pun intended.
If he got in where he fit in it would have all worked out for him
them calhoun albums he did was hella derivative and his attitude was all wrong which is why those projects never really took off.

And if it was alcohol I would say he had a drinking problem.
I said substance abuse- which always comes across the border in one form or another.
And somebody said DMX was a substance abuser and it didnt stop him - you are 100% right.
there are high functioning addicts in all walks of life
there are high functioning manic depressives in all walks of life
there are high functioning schizophrenics in all walks of life
Cool Breeze was not high functioning and the substances made his energy/work ethic worse.
all that being said I truly hope he finds happiness

His second single threw people off but that shyt was crunk before the wave.

Dude was too early on everything for his own good.

I been bumping this track like crazy the past few weeks. Forgot how dope it was and it's been back heavy in my rotation

Cool Breeze was dope as hell, I def would have liked to see him expand to a wider audience and experiment with more features.

I don't know much about DF politics but it seemed impossible to blow from that camp from within. Outkast had their own issues, as did Goodie.

Raw talent like CeeLo and Killer Mike had to break from that camp to find real success. 3 Stacks career is a whole different subject

A lot of it had to do with LaFace Records and their efforts to make (all of) them mainstream.
They wanted Outkast to be just CeeLo and Andre (the two eclectic guys) and wanted to throw Big Boi into Goodie Mob.
