None of my boys really fukk with Mega like that. They love him on the features but not really his projects. Most prefer Nature to him.

Some of this comes from the Nas wars where I feel they wrote him off as Nas obsessed and never really gave him a fair shot after tho.

I'm the only one still fukking with him and owning the merch and shyt.
I fukked with Mega off the strength of "R U My nikka?" being a classic record and his features with The Jacka. I really started to give him his respect as an artist when he released Mega Philosophy. Prior to that, I did not like his albums.

This is a pretty good interview so far. I appreciate that Mega made/is making a concerted effort to civilize himself and refrain from thinking/behaving savagely...even trying not to say certain words anymore, salute for that, I went thru all that.

And some of the stuff yall are calling him out for is just stuff that was done for the podcast, it's Nore's drunk crazy podcast...do you really think he would have handled the Nature shyt like that if he wasn't on a podcast? Lol, come on, he aint trippin off that I don't think. Even the Tragedy stuff is like playful little love taps, nothing that serious

Nas really rocks with Noreaga...and you can tell Noreaga really looks up to Nas, every time he speaks to him he reacts like he's speaking to Michael Jordan or somebody, lol, and they're friends.

Nature a lot of times could compete with nas level (see all the foulness, desperados, executive decision...)

What nature lacks is musical direction and ambition, charisma on and off records and ear for beats, that's why Mega and Nore who are way less talented had better careers and albums

I often heard like mega was supposed to be the next qb sensation mc before he got locked up. I always wonder why because after listening to live at the BBQ there was a clear huge gap already between him and nas. Even havoc was way better
And that’s another thing. What separates Nas from these cats and even Nature ain’t only the straight spittin. It’s the poetry and CREATIVITY he brings. So while some of these cats can almost hang with Nas on ONE aspect of rapping. Nas has a plethora of emcee bags he can reach from. Nas has an entire package that these cats lack and this is why he’s in GOAT conversations and a lot of other dope emcees ain’t.

Nature is just a flat out better rapper than Mega. Mega is a better artist tho. But it’s the reason why I think it’s laughable when people compare Mega to Nas. I’m like u wouldn’t compare Mega to any of Nas’ contemporaries like Jay Z, Biggie, Pac etc etc because u would get laughed at. Put that into perspective. The only reason the comparison remotely happens is because they know eachother and they beefed. Lol
While I agree with your sentiment, I think the reason he’s compared to Nas is just because of how close they are. People do that with every dope rapper that’s outshined by their friend that is a bigger name. Same way there are people that used to be like “Sauce Money is nicer than Jay-Z” even though they would never compare him to Big or Nas, because it would sound crazy. But they feel more comfortable comparing him to Jay simply because they were on the same team.

This is true. I'm also surprised that Marly Marl, Russell Simmons, and Chris Lighty all thought he was gonna do things career wise (or at least, according to Mega lol). Not saying they thought he was "next" but clearly they thought he could sell records. I fukk with Mega but he didn't have the mainstream appeal of a Nas, or even an AZ. AZ had a gold single before Nas, radio play etc. I'm not sure I buy the idea of Mega attaining that in the mid 90s if the label shyt had gone smoother. His rap style just doesn't fit that lane. Things worked out for him though. I'd rather be an independent artist with success than a low level Def Jam artist who released one album before getting dropped...because that's what would have happened.

Nature has mad flunky like qualities about his character but the main thing that makes him one is the fact that he be fukking up round people he depends on and having to bow his head in shame n crawl back round. if that nikka was his own man he wouldn't be in all the situations he's in.

well he could have gone the dmx, the lox type of lane. and in the late 90's that's where east coast rap was really selling. everybody was going platinum even hardcore groups/artists like gangstarr, mop, mobb deep... off his clout alone and with a great street single he could have blow up. but I get what you're sayin

his buzz in QB was because he got linked up with marley (qb super producer) and actually was on a studio recording(s) before nas (1989); I think nas around that same time was running around with rakim/eric b/large pro but he hadn't recorded yet

Man cut the bullshyt:rudy: Only on the coli do nikkas think Nature is more talented than Mega OR Nore

Mega was rapping like a more advanced version of Nas in 1991 and was kicking that
mid 90s east coast gangsta style early in 1991 because he was actually living it

Which is why Marley Marl said he didn't care about signing Nas he already had the prototype
