nikka say shyt like this without empirical data. Never mind that braiding hair straightened it a bit when taken out and braids were popular during the antebellum and Victorian fashion times, or that women in cities like New Orleans had tignon laws which required black women to cover their hair in public, so braiding it was an easy way to maintain it....
Naw we jump right to the most extreme circumstance that reeks of ignorance. It takes time to braid hair and it’s hard to put grains of rice into braids. Their are other ways to stash food, especially if it’s stolen. You are not feeding enough people off one head filled with rice. Rice also takes a long time to cook and is not fatally edible without someone having to cook it.
Who said this? Is this from the WPA Slave Narratives, or something that another white man has told another white man, or some black academia found an obscure reference to this and ran with the notion? Never heard of this shyt in my life and I’m in African American studies.
This is example 5347 of why your ass should be in school or doing something productive nikka instead of this bullshyt
