No one gave a shyt. It disproportionally killed the youth. It ruined lives, families, careers. Nobody gave a shyt.
God forbid we have to use tax dollars to open up any more rehab facilities, but we have no problem shutting down everything for something that may kill 100K people, who are disproportionately elderly

Assuming that's 67k over the course of a year, that's about 183 people on average dying every day from opioid overdoses. That's admittedly a grim toll. I'd dispute people not giving a shyt, given all of the chatter and politicians at least giving it lip service, but that's another thread
.Almost 2000 people died in the last 24 hours from this virus. And that's not counting the number of deaths being missed because of people dying outside of hospitals from it. And that's the outcome with all of the lockdowns that took place last month.
You can avoid dying by opioid overdose by not taking opioids. Pathogens that cause pandemics like this can't just be avoided in the same way.
