I shot this link to my epidemiologist friend and asked if he knew anything about this. As of 7-10 days ago he said that he and his team (private anti-virus task force in California) did not believe it was a Biphasic Virus that re-infects. He said they thought a lot of these people testing positive again never really shook it, and that it was more likely we were seeing false negatives when it appeared that they were clear of the virus.

But 7-10 days is a long time, and info is moving fast. I doubt he'll know anything that you aren't able to find online, and he may have a hunch but that's still just anecdotal. But I still went ahead and asked him.

:lupe:
I'd be interested in his thoughts, please share if you get a response.

He said this via text after I sent him your link:

“It's waaaaay more likely that "reactivation" is just based on false negatives. We know that's a problem with the existing tests. Definitely worth monitoring more, and I can’t guarantee you it’s not possible, but I don't consider reactivation a huge concern as of now.”

So take that for what it’s worth. I’m just a stranger online, and he’s one step farther removed from me. But I also hate posting anything that I wouldn’t stand behind if I wasn’t anonymous. This guy is the smartest friend I’ve ever had, and the only thing he’s been wrong about so far (and thankfully) is he thought we’d have a lot more deaths in America by now.

edit: @Hood Critic I’ll tag you if he sends me any developments or updates on reactivation of covid19 one way or the other.

edit 2: @nyknick tagging you too breh

Coronavirus May ‘Reactivate’ in Cured Patients, Korean CDC Says

At this point testing could be faulty, treatment could be insufficient or not lasting long enough, re-infection or worst case, you never fully get cured and are susceptible to re-activation.

All this means is that we don't know shyt about the virus and should stop making claims about it one way or another. This thing being a permanent dormant virus is spooky as hell. The testing could also be suspect as hell as well. Either way we need a bunch more information to make any kind of claim about this.

Yo what reality are we living in?

And to be fair I fukking hate CNN (and all the major televised corporate media channels for that matter) but still. A lot of people get theirs news from CNN (*sighs in frustration*) and not allowing public health officials appear on there without certain demands being met is pretty radical.

Lots of people are, the lake in Oakland has always been a popular place to exercise, even more so now that outdoor exercise is one of the main alternatives with no gyms, I went to walk it one day and it was packed. I decided to bounce, but a lot of people are out in public spaces trying to exercise and walking/running past one another since “it’s not really contact”

Crazy then. I immediately chose the quietest route at the quest time. People are strange

@Dillah810 I'm sorry for everything you're dealing with breh. Hang in there.

Why the fukk would they end support right now?!

EVERYTHING the admin has done thus far has been to hide true extent of their negligence. Only reason you don't want more testing is bc we learn how many were infected and how many have died. If you never get tested, get sick, go to hospital and die the next day it's unlikely you'll be counted.

67k died of overdoses in 2018.

Overdose Death Rates

No one gave a shyt. It disproportionally killed the youth. It ruined lives, families, careers. Nobody gave a shyt.

God forbid we have to use tax dollars to open up any more rehab facilities, but we have no problem shutting down everything for something that may kill 100K people, who are disproportionately elderly

shyt is not adding up to me :hubie:

Because you just might be a simpleton. Consider that possibility. I know you're thinking "uh no I'm smart/educated, I read the news, I know stuff, you're a hater etc" but seriously, there's no guarantee that you're not just too stupid to understand the underlying issue."

Death Count Expected To Soar As NYC Says It Will Begin Reporting Probable COVID Deaths In Addition To Confirmed Ones

New York City officials will begin to count suspected COVID-19 deaths of people who die at home following a WNYC/Gothamist report revealing a staggering number of such deaths that were not included in the official tally.

In a statement, Stephanie Buhle, a spokeswoman for New York City’s Health Department, said the city would no longer report only those cases that were confirmed by a laboratory test.

Over the last two weeks, FDNY officials said 2,192 New York City residents died in their homes, compared to 453 during the same time period last year. On Tuesday evening, the city reported 3,544 people have died of coronavirus, as confirmed by lab tests.

Earlier in the day, Mayor Bill de Blasio acknowledged that the vast majority of deaths taking place at home were likely also due to the virus, meaning the death toll could be as much as 70 percent higher than currently reported figures.

“We do want to know the truth about every death at home, but it’s safe to assume that the vast majority are coronavirus related,” he said. “That makes it even more sober, the sense of how many people we are losing.”

:francis:

Of course there are more people dying at home. Everybody is ORDERED to stay inside their home.

The other sentence is misleading fear-mongering bullshyt also "On Tuesday evening, the city reported 3,544 people have died of coronavirus, as confirmed by lab tests."

The key difference that they keep neglecting to distinguish in the reporting is whether someone just died and had corona at the time of their death, or whether they actually died from covid-19. The lab tests that they mention cannot measure this second thing. So this statement is false. Check the other operative words in this report: "suspected", "could", "likely", "safe to assume", "related".

This is extremely lazy 'journalism' and unjustified fear-mongering. It's hugely irresponsible and we need to call people out on it. The Coli shouldn't fall for this Fox news level of disingenuous reporting.
