Work may not be "fun" but it should be enjoyable. If your job makes your life run like a sitcom, same thing day after day, mentally drains you, and you aren't enjoying it then its time to look for another job.

This is the best post so far.

Work is not meant to be fun. However it should not be insufferable and depressing.

If a person wakes up everyday and has to literally force themselves to work or eat a chocolate bar to feel better they need a new job.

40-60 hours a week 5 days out of the week for 40 years is a long ass time to be feeling like shyt.

Past 2 weeks shyts been loose, I got a separate office and there's literally no more tasks for me to do, since shyt is mad easy. But I have to be here. It's like being on temporary house arrest. I have to be here for 8 hours, even if I don't actually do any effective work.

where did my life go?

Reminds me a lot of myself . Follow your dreams now man before you have any kids. Once you have kids you will have a lot less flexibility and will probably choose a safer path but be miserable at the same time. That corporate grind can wear a nikka down, but those pay checks are hard to give up when you have a family.

Climbing the ladder results in more money, but that's about it. As you move up there is more pressure to perform, and you also have to deal with managing crazy ass employees. Moving up often means more hours and more stress.

It's not so much that I hate corporate America, I'm just not doing what I have a passion for. Most people here seem to be happy. Esp since most of us get off at 3pm and rarely work more than 40hrs a week.
