springfield has maybe 50,000 blacks compared to 2
million in NYC. In 2010, the median household income of black New Yorkers was $57,847 vs. an estimate of $34,311 for ALL of Springfield MA (undoubtedly, more blacks are on the lower scale in Massachusetts)

the cultural amenties do not even compare so I'm not going to address them. Springfield doesn't have a Harlem or Bed Stuy let alone a Southeast Queens (full of high income black homeowners)
access to stable and high paying jobs in public and private sector doesn't compare so I won't address either.
New York city and state provide much more social welfare for poor New York residents
public transportation is FAR superior (MTA subway and buses, LIRR, Metro North, PATH, etc. )
for black immigrants, NYC offers services in their languages (Creole, Spanish, French, Igbo, Yoruba, etc.)
easy access to two international airports (Newark and JFK)
free instate tuition
closer access to HBCUs in the Mid Atlantic (Morgan State, Howard, etc.)
large black professional and alumni organizations and networks across professions.
greater access to diversity and scholarship programs and fellowships offered by large corporations, firms, etc. (For example, i was just refereed to a scholarship opportunity that only offered interviews in NYC. For a Springfield MA resident to even get to the city it would take 4 hours. That Springfield resident is effectively barred from those types of opportunties)
its absolutely laughable that you a white person would name compare anything in New England to any other city let alone NYC.
