NYC is overrated as fukk....I'm making just over $100K in Denver.
The vibe is wayyy better
People are nicer
Weather is better (last 2 winters weren't harsh, I can't tell ya'll how many times I sent my frineds screenshots from the wether app on my phone during the winters)
Women are wayyyy more with it (Last year fukked at least 60 girls....this year I already matched my last year total by the summer)
Women look better too lol (People in Denver are overall in better shape)

I live in a city, less than half hour from a major city in CT and a bit over an hour from Boston. surrounded by beaches, mountains, tons of great food, music culture, six flags is less than 15 minutes from me, casinos, tons of jobs, the best colleges in the country, museums etc

oh and i can own a car without being stuck in over an hour traffic just to make it to another part of the city

so what do NYers have that i don’t?

The amenities argument that always gets brought up never can justify the cost of living

Just the fact that the MTA incessantly rapes them with price increases every few years is joke enough

there are things major cities like NYC offer in much more abundance and then Worcester MA or Springfield where you probably live (btw those cities are utter trash. upgrade your life and move to Boston or Providence boo)
keep in mind we are black and have different needs and desires then you. yts can be happy in rural areas and far out places like that but for most of us we need to be in metropolitan areas that have amenities we want

its not semantics. There's nothing in your links give merit that "As long as you don't maintain NYC as your residence or stay more than 6 months worth of nights in NYC, you don't pay NYC income tax. There are people who work in NYC and meticulously track the number of days they spend overnight in the city just to avoid paying the city income tax."
Someone working in NYC and domiciled in NJ and CT is not a New York resident at all so much of the link you posted doesn't apply.

It says right in the link that if you spend 183 days or less in NYC and maintain an abode, you are not a NYC resident. I should have clarified in my original message that the day test isn't necessary if you don't maintain an abode in NYC, but I think that was a recent change.

maybe i posted the wrong link but the article i meant to post had Westchester at an average of $16,000 a year which is second to only Long Island. It also depends on whether you work in New York City, as you have to pay their city income tax too which you can't avoid even if you live in Jersey.
Yes i agree that the tristate is too expensive but there are many things in the area that are great and unrivaled in most of the US. But folks online have this weird inferiority complex towards New York because of some New york transplants to their flyover state or because some rapper said the South is slow.

U upstate with the meth heads nikka?"

NJ's suburbs aren't like those urban suburbs in the DMV but middle class areas with high black populations in NJ and downtowns i would say are West Orange, Maplewood, South Orange in North Jersey. honestly Jersey doesn't have anything comparable to Silver Spring or Bethesda in my opinion

I 100% agree. That was part of the allure for me. I was so moved by how they built down here, with everything in walking distance of fly ass apartments and public trans. Supermarkets bars and restaurants. Jersey has nothing like it really.

New Yorkers are arrogant as hell. My cousins in BK and SI always shytted on Jersey like where they live is that much better(especially my SI cousins)

we got mad job opportunities up here, especially for felons and people trying to change their life. enter level manufacturing jobs that aren’t ideal, but they help poor people, people of color and immigrants get on their feet a lot. our benefits in terms of helping out the struggling are better, our justice system, our schooling etc

do you even have that in New York?

i guess riding the MTA and being a two minutes walk away from a chopped cheese is worth 2k a month for mediocrity

Silver Spring isn't cheap either though right? Hey I been debating between Jersey and Maryland. Jersey has some of the best public schools which are a huge plus. Which would you pick based on things to do, education, affordability and walkability?

No sir. Silver spring can cost a lil bit. You'll get a bit more space tho, and it'll be slightly cheaper. Im taking Silver Spring, Bethesda, Rockville Moco and MD over Jersey. And as far as I know there are some excellent schools here and magnet schools and programs like IB (international baccalaureate program) that are top notch in the area. The students I parlayed with and attended STEM programs with in hs were from MD and were top notch and mainly from MoCo.

I like that it's literally the city that never sleeps. Anywhere else I've been, everything shuts down by 1 or 2. I like that transit is 24hrs, and from where I live I can be anywhere in 30min or less. Different types of food and cultures. There's little Korea, little Italy, Chinatown, little Caribbean etc. so much more. Honestly if you've never lived here, you wouldn't understand
