He stayed in the right situation? I mean if you look at his game he's had a pretty underwhelming career.

Dude"s skillset is up there with the greatest players of all time. He literally has no weaknesses in his game. he's got a pure jump shot, pull ups, mid range and floaters, and he's one of the biggest guards in the game with elite playmaking and ball handling ability for his position.

How is it possible that a guy that talented with an elite skillset like this only at 17,4,4 for his career? He should be a Hall of Fame lock

Some players are determined to become the best they can be at their craft. Others are determined to get that big contract, knowing that they're set for life outside of ball.

Joe Johnson's career was never the same after Atlanta gave him that max contract.

Would be viewed in a more positive light if he spent his career on contending teams, sure. As a player though he just wasn't built to lead a team to contendership.

Was a supremely well rounded scorer, but he preferred to take tough jumpers off the dribble and rely on his touch for floaters in the paint rather than go up strong and get to the free throw line. Unless your name is Steph Curry that's cause for inconsistency especially in the playoffs.

Much better suited as a complimentary option next to a dominant offensive star. We saw him play off ball well in Phoenix, tail end of his career in Brooklyn/Miami and I'm sure he could've done that in Atlanta if there were someone else to take the responsibility from him.

All that said, love the guys game and think he gets too much of a bad rap from fans. Very good player that had a nice career.

Every player isn't a hall of famer. JOe johsnon isn't on that Kobe, lebron, Jordan type of player. But he gave you 20, 5 and 5. Decent all around player. He is what he is. He isn't that player that has another gear for the playoffs. what you see is what you get.

Same shyt happen to Vince. They realize how much of a buisness the industry is, and say fukk it. They do enough just to get by.

I remember seeing Joe at the Barclay, and being pissed off about how fukking non chalant he was. That nikka be on the court chilling.

Joe could have done more if he wanted to but he didn't have the drive nor the will to be an all time great. It takes more than physical talent to be an all time great player. You have to work harder then the usual player and you have to have a mentality to want to be the best. And guys like Joe Johnson Rudy Gay etc. don't have that second gear that cats like Bron and Kobe got.

Exactly, just look at the video in the OP. How many perimeter players we seen consistently cook Bron like how Joe was doing? He just didnt have that same mentality to do it night in and night out. I think Pierce even alluded to that on his way out of Brooklyn

Thats why i say only a few players in NBA history can carry and bring a team to the playoff .....

And that list get shorter when you account those that can do that and get past the 1st and 2nd rounds ....

Then that list is even shorter with those that can do that and lead the team on offense and defense ...

And ISO Joe can't even do the first thing :yeshrug:
