So if he came up today he wouldn't cheat on his wife with white women and disrespect people who approach him for autographs?

Yall are proving the point bringing up Lebron. He hasn't actually done anything "bad" or illegal and he's still the number one topic in the media over the last decade. He's been getting slandered the last 3 weeks just for not being Michael Jordan lol

Ya'll are also playing dumb and ignoring the fact that despite the gambling stuff Mike was still sold as the perfect ideal athlete. We're talking about Michael Jordan he is the sports equivalent of Jesus Christ.

His whole image would be different today
Klay Thompson does all the same shyt,:yeshrug:

So what part of Jordan’s image would take a hit? I don’t think anyone today would care if MJ was gambling, bulls still won the series, I don’t think it would matter.

Think about all the he-said scumbag tales that Jordans tied to that get posted here alone. There probably would be more of them publicized and theyd probably be blown up by TMZ or whatever. Think about all the chatty patty shyt that the media blows up and tries to make into a story nowadays and how trigged everyone gets. All he had to worry about was newspaper columnists And postgame interviews. No way i fxck hed be regarded as the squeaky ambassador for as long as he did back then. No one could.

also wouldn't have had nike gatorade etcetera propaganda

they really don't push campaigns for athletes like they used to

that was a big part of creating the larger than life image

This era is the age of cameraphones. The idea that it's all about social media is hilarious. Him getting drunk at some club, at a casino at 2am (lol at AC being a 1 hour drive from NYC) or blowing people off would have been recorded and been an issue.

Him walking out the hotel with a skank would have been an issue.

He would have it so much worse. That gambling scandal thing is a JOKE compared to what he'd face if under the same scrutiny today. There are 30 times more sports hacks trying to make a name for themselves in the business and no doubt many would try to clout chase trying to smear his name.
Again, why do you assume he would move the same with the increased risk of getting exposed? You don't think his handlers would tell him "Mike you can't be in a casino at 3 am drunk at a black jack table" with the brands he had behind him? Its alot different in this era compared to the early 90s when we had to rely on stories delivered from 2nd hand sources.

I don’t think we’d have the “be like campaign” but he’d be like a damn super villain. An invincible predator. Can you imagine how they’d spin his gambling trips while he was dropping 30+ and winning titles. What’s the headline? Jordan is so damn good he dropped 40 on your squad while hungover from a night of gambling.

Ask most back in the days athletes if they'd behave in their same manner today as they did back then, and they tell you they wouldn't.

No way does a back in the day athlete with all of their baggage remain unscathed playing today. sports media is 10 times larger today than in the 90s. He'd be under more scrutiny, so acting like he'd be an anomaly like Derek Jeter is a joke. MJ and who he was back in the 90s doesn't make it today.

Shiiiiiit....some of the shyt I did back in the 90s doesnt make it today.

Now you're assuming jordan would be moving the same in today's era. Players do what you just described all the time and are fine. More hate from bitter mj haters. Smh

No shyt, that's my point. Players are going to move differently when they know they got people pulling out camera phones at every moment compared to back in the day with big ass polaroid and film cameras. Everyday citizens weren't walking around with them in their pockets.

He’d adapt to the times like most people of his stature. He definitely won’t be viewed the same because of the access to his everyday life and the way the NBA cultured has changed. No one of today walks away unscathed, but some you guys are underestimating Jordan’s smarts.

Are we assuming he'd be moving the exact same way if he grew up in an era where camera phones and TMZ are the norm:dwillhuh:

Part of MJs legend is tied to getting away with things he did back in the days that you celebrate. This has zero to do with MJ haters and more to do with the media hacks that exist ten fold compared to MJ's era where he got away with a lot and how his rep would be damaged by their incessant coverage.
