In a game of 1-on-1, are we talking about Cousy vs. a breh that played high school ball (maybe some small-time college) or Cousy vs. someone that is reasonably athletic but doesn't play much?

The kind of dude that regularly plays rec ball and can nail open J's versus most dudes? I agree with you 100%. Now some cat that goes to the gym but hasn't played a legit game of full court ball in 3 years? Nah.

Could BC win a game of HORSE? His chances might be better there over an actual game/21

I'm talking about any strong athlete who plays a lot of ball. Including any college baller and any good high school baller as well as rec ballers if they practicing serious, know what they're doing and have athleticism.

Personally, I'm 6'1" and 195lbs, played college football, and played four seasons total in a couple of city bball leagues up until I was 23. Any time in my peak (say 20 to 25) I'm washing him and everyone watching will know that from the first two possessions.

but he was a professional athlete breh. you're ignoring the 'pro' factor where, once someone gets into the nba, they just no longer have to obey the laws of space, time, and physics. he would just win bc he was 'in the league' and nobody on thecoli was lol.

Most of y’all nikkas claiming you could give buckets to Cousy are probably a cool 5’5-5’7.

Cousy would dribble circles around y’all with one hand and then throw up an awkward two handed layup. And ain’t shyt you can do about it :russ:
Tbh, I don’t think he’d beat somebody who can actually play today. The ball handling, athleticism, and shooting today is just at a whole other level. There’s high school kids and D3 players who would work a ‘50’s Cousy on the floor.

But if Cousy came out today he might be a good player. He’s described as having a good wingspan/large hands and his legs were very strong, look at his bottom half.

His vision and passing flair was clearly ahead of his time, the passes he made are impressive. It would come to him developing a modern handle (back then seems like player dribbled with one hand and looked to keep it low) and having a decent jump shot.

Cousy did shoot 80% from the line for his career, he had that famous scene in Blue Chips knocking down FT after FT as an old man. So maybe he could hit a 15 footer.

Modern comps I’d say Rajon Rondo and T.J. McConnell.

Cousy and others played in an era where you couldn’t palm the ball.

You had to dribble with your palms facing down or else it would be called a carry. That changed in the late 70s and early 80s and was pretty much gutted in the 90s. (Not saying Cousy had amazing handles compared to today’s nba player but he wasn’t allowed too)

He shot 37% due to the pace of the game. The game was faster back then in terms of change of possession and getting shots up.

He was 6’1” back when they measured you barefoot. He would probably be at or taller than Kyrie Irving if it’s with the same shoes.

No one on the Coli is beating a prime Bob Cousy.
Please!! Most can still be effective dribbling palms down and
I don't think the rules is what stopping these guys from slashing and scoring :comeon:

it's not just different now, it's better.

Thank God for these two for improving guard play in the early sixties...at least Jerry West looked good dribbling palms down
