This is really just a longevity and consistency record.

It's more than that. He's at 18 years of 25+ppg, no one else is past 13 (Durant). So you need to be a high scorer for a long time, true. But before the longevity you need to be an elite, high-level scorer to even make this a possibility late in your career....

He hasn't exceeded expectations. At best he lived up to the hype. He was called the GOAT incarnate at 17. The most NBA ready player ever, yadda, yadda ya. The only remarkable thing he has done revolves around health & longevity. He hasn't revolutionized the game. Steph Curry has. He hasn't really set himself away from his peers. health and Longevity is the only thing he has

No player has won as many rings as him since he entered the league
Bron 4
Wade 3
Timmy 3
Curry 3
Durant 2
Kawhi 2
Kobe 2

That means something :manny:

Nor MVPs. Nor MVP runner-ups or Top 5 finishes. Nor FMVPs. Nor Finals appearances. Nor All-NBA 1st Team or total All-NBAs. On and on...

He's definitely separates himself from the pack years ago...

Friendly suggestion for thread title—instead of:

Countdown to passing Kareem: 38,387 (free daps)

Do

Countdown to passing Kareem: 1,594 points to go (free daps)

It’ll feel like more of a countdown and build anticipation as he gets closer. You can update following each game once we get closer or however often you want to. :yeshrug:
Great suggestion, done. Thanks

Ok devil's advocate - What do the 6 finals losses mean?

What does it mean that Durant Curry Kawhi Dirk and Timmy all beat him for rings? And Kobe perhaps would have as well if he didn't lose to Dwight in the ECF?

What do the 6 finals losses mean?

It means more that he got there 10 times. It's not like he's 1-8 on some Jerry West shyt...

70% of his Finals came vs the Warriors and Spurs dynasties. He went 2-5 vs them and 2-1 vs everyone else. It's accepted that he left '11 on the table, so focus on the 7 Spurs/Warriors Finals, which one was he supposed to win that he didn't?

The one in Y4 where he wasn't even supposed to be there? No other GOAT even got close to a Finals with an '07 Cavs type roster...

The 2014 loss where he was far and away the best player in the series and no other Miami player showed up? Kawhi wasn't "Kawhi" yet so that series don't really stand out for him...

The 2015 loss where he was far and away the best player in the series bit missing his second and third options?

'17 loss with a defensive-poor roster and no real #3?

'18 with the '07 Cavs rerun?

Man went to 8 straight Finals, no one is doing that again. Other than '11 there is nothing else left on the board, at best he should have 5 titles. Picking on his losses in The Finals undermines the fact he's been there more than anyone, especially given the fact besides one year he isn't the reason his teams lost...

Muhfukkas sweep everyone else's Finals losses outta memory bit Bron's matter lmao. This is further proof he the GOAT...
