It's not even that he "took" them. The Elite decided to bet on themselves and start a new promotion. That's why I think it's relevant to make the distinction that it was ROH's top drawing acts that went "we can do bigger and better" and starter their own shyt. Sure, they got the money guy, but it's wrestling 101, you don't get a big national promotion without the drawing acts to make it sustainable at the start, and you need those wrestlers to make the jump.

It's not necessarily the norm in the U.S but it's pretty common in Japan.
The Elite starting up AEW is more like what has happened a ton in Japan but is seldom seen these days where top talent decide to bet on themselves, leave the promotion where they made their name in, and start their own company. Their not listed as owners but the EVPs at least probably own some equity in the company.

This shyt is not helping
Because all these big moments was overshadowed by the thing that happened on the next show. WWE needs to never do this again. While they are add it then need to stop throwing NXT in with their other shows.

Breh not even Vince was that vindictive, and his bumpkin ass would send letters about the violence in wcw, and starve promotions out of potential towns.

TKKKO is doing nasty work for a developmental promotion.
Survivor Series literally exists as counter programming to Starcade :dead:

The TV company's literally forced them to stop doing this in the 80s because everyone was losing.
Sadly this is a new era of counter programming giving the fact that it's all streaming services. It's a matter of either spending 50 bucks, subbing to Netflix/peacock, or both.

Back in the days it's was a headache for PPV and the networks. So yeah, WWF had to tone it down.

Sounds like AEW either likely came close to breaking or did break their PPV buyrate this weekend. Also sold nearly 30K tickets for their North American record. And what I assume was their third largest gate ever.

Meanwhile NXT was an afterthought on Saturday and struggled to sell out an 800-setup facility when they already had thousands of people in town for two main roster shows. And the big talking points coming out from SNME was that it sucked and Seth Rollins got hurt.

Whatever WWE's goal is here ain't working.

I honestly feel like it's more of a TKKKO call, than WWE. Before the takeover, it was just the NXT on Wednesday slot which made them btfo around the time Dub was hot and off the presses. Also, signees like Cody and em, but nothing too self damaging like having a show or weekend for a show.

Imagine if WWE focus on its own territory and just kept Evolution as it is, instead of a No Limit album in 98, Seth would have been fine, and folks would be talking about the event more than All In, giving that the E is still a household name.

Even throwing away the whole trying to hurt AEW part, why they got to keep fukking over NXT?

The talent and staff work hard over there. They put on good to great PLEs. They do good TV numbers. They deserve their own spotlight on the weekend for a PLE. Why toss them to the wolves like a sacrificial lamb? It’s extremely disrespectful.

I don't understand what the goal was either. Back in the 80s, McMahon and Crockett was both trying to find ways to expand. McMahon bought up territories and their timeslots. Crockett was on cable television and going into markets like Chicago. They were really battling it out for bigger pieces of the national wrestling viewership pie.

Aside from that, McMahon didn't do counterprogramming in the 90s until Nitro came along and he had to. He acted like WCW didn't exist, like other promotions didn't exist at all. Wrestlers would come from WCW and have a whole new gimmick, wouldn't even acknowledge that they worked elsewhere before.

What is the goal here? If you're going to steal eyes from AEW and make it hard on them, you would have to throw out some major stories with big implications.

I think WWE is still pissed that AEW drove up wrestler contracts.

They 100% are, it’s the one thing you can point to as a fact that AEW has done to negatively impact WWE’s bottom line.

It was no accident they wanted it known that Swerve gets paid “too much,” or that wrestler X took a pay cut to come to WWE, or that they only payed Tool $1 for Penta’s theme and wanted to brag about it.

They won’t come out and say those first two things in some official capacity of course, but that leaking out isn’t on accident.

How many times have I talked about attending WWE shows, I even put up pictures in the threads and shyt, I have been to a bunch of RAW/SD! and PPVs.

But because I also watch AEW and I criticize WWE booking and/or business practices from time to time, we gotta turn it into some stan thing, don't get it

Let them be miserable breh.

Remember with wwe.
it is not supposed to be good.

Sohh they are mad you found sumfin good.

Let them be miserable.
Let them have their misery.

They have nuffin and they know it.

When i have known the wwf was trash since 1984.
When i seen magnum ta.
Then saw the real nikita koloff.
To see a higher quality difference.
Then in 86. Got to hear jim ross in uwf. With hot stuff giving people brain busters with sting.
Let them be miserable breh.
They been conditioned.
to be in complete misery and don't even know it.

it is monday. They start their work week off in misery.
Then never get any reward for it.
