They 100% are, it’s the one thing you can point to as a fact that AEW has done to negatively impact WWE’s bottom line.

It was no accident they wanted it known that Swerve gets paid “too much,” or that wrestler X took a pay cut to come to WWE, or that they only payed Tool $1 for Penta’s theme and wanted to brag about it.

They won’t come out and say those first two things in some official capacity of course, but that leaking out isn’t on accident.

I don’t think it hurts to counter program each other. I went to GAB, bought All In, and watch that and SNME later that night. I can see how this would be an issue in the ppv days, but in the streaming world, you can watch what you want when you want. Now if they both run in the same city on the same day, then that’s a huge issue.

Now the part that hurt AEW about this weekend was probably not getting as much social media hits due to people watching GAB or SNME. It could have possibly affected their trending numbers. The biggest thing that hurt AEW was Evolution. If it wasn’t for Evolution, AEW would have won the weekend clean and had everyone talking about them. Evolution decided it wanted to be WWE’s best PLE of the year and steal some shine from AEW.

Off the top of my head, Starks, Mariah May, and Vaquer did. Vaquer even said on the record that WWE told her to take the AEW offer because they couldn’t give her that much money.

I saw that earlier. The whole counterprogramming thing didn't make sense at all and didn't do anything to help the talent or the shows.

Them dudes are complete marks for taking paycuts. I'd gladly work less and disappear from TV for weeks if it meant getting overpaid by a rich idiot. But they want the "glory". I'd only do that if I was getting up there in age like Kenny Omega or Cody. If I'm a young wrestler I'd keep stacking that Tony bread even if it meant I wasn't working much.

Taking less money because you’re a mark for the three letters is just bad business if you want to stay in WWE long term.

They know they can offer you less on future contracts because they know you’re a mark for them and have already established you’ll take a pay cut to work for them. Unless you give them legitimate reason to believe you’ll leave for AEW, then no need to pay you top dollar.
