Washington post article about it? Their article Makes people care even less, as they view one person getting it a in a crowd of thousands a rousing success. Spotlights being on case counts (of one!) rather than hospitalization rates this far into it when it’s obvious it’s not going anywhere is just a complete waste of time. Maybe you want things to shutdown and have life grind to a halt for an entire country without trying to find a balance between mitigation and not being in economic ruin. Sounds like it, since you offer up no actual way forward and just point to things said months ago. Hope you can pay your bills thru another shutdown. I can. If you can’t, oh well. Sounds like that’s what you’re rooting for. Guess I’ll just worry about me, rather than the millions of folks who can’t work because of shutdowns instead of trying to find a balance of living with the virus and actually having something to live for. I think lockdowns will be localized rather than country wide. I cant see another full lockdowns because from a pure economical/political perspective, it would be suicide for our governments.

I cant talk about the UK but for France that's just a threat from our government at the moment to force people to behave again. Macron managed to rally Merkel for an historical continent wide economic, that's not to mess it up with another lockdown.

Macron knows hes done in 2022 with another lockdown because the number of small companies that will die will be too much. Socio-economically he was already hot with the Yellow vests so he cant afford this. He changed the strategy from fighting the virus to living with it and preventing uts spread.

People want doomsday so bad it was enough to garner a headline from a national outlet. Absolutely comical. One fan. Onion type headline. Cases will continue. Anyone denying that is in a different reality from where we currently sit. The government ensured that. You can’t have life without this thing spreading at this point. If doesn’t come with similar hospitalizations or deaths rises then what’s the issue? How long should folks shut it down and ruin society around them? People have to eat, and no one is putting food on their tables

They can’t afford to be out of work again. They have to mask up and press on. That’s where the government has left things. it's not quite so simple because you can abide by all recommended practices but still be exposed to someone else's reckless behavior. 7 people died from a coronavirus outbreak from a wedding in Maine which they didn't even attend and 175 cases are linked to that one wedding.

Basically this. These dudes keep wanting to be combative or maybe its a desire to be "different" and standout. But the issue here isn't that people want this shyt to happen. The issue here is people are acknowledging the shyt is out there and want our society to react to it like sane human beings. So when numbers spike or deaths go up and you see that in conjunction with the government not doing anything about it or in the case of a certain faction of political interests in the states, actually making it worse, its something we find worth talking about.

Now if folks are saying its the end of the world as we know it, I get the eye-rolling towards dramatics.

Basically this. These dudes keep thinking and want to be combative or maybe its a desire to be "different" and standout. But the issue here isn't that people want this shyt to happen. The issue here is people are acknowledging the shyt is out there and want our society to react to it like sane human beings.

This will never happen. Wanting society to react to everything in a rational manner that’s a train that was never even at the station. Folks that still have hope the government will see things thru or society as a whole will move calm and rationally thru this and we are 8 months in. I acknowledge there won’t be a fairytale ending regardless what you do at this point. Vaccine, lockdown, whatever. The virus ain’t going anywhere. That’s not being “different” that’s simply seeing reality. Lose weight, mask up, and choose what you feel are in your best interests to do. That’s all you can do at this stage. That’s what I acknowledge.
