Truuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuue. I'm still waiting on @Milk N Cookies to come back northside so I can spit something proper:shaq:

On the real though, I dislike beauty standards because they compartmentalize women in such a way that it leaves out the things that are left to interpretation.

Read the comments in this thread. Its pretty much accepted practice that a sista with no curves is :scust:

"No ass" "No t*ts" Silly shyt. Or in threads where white women are on display, like the only way a white woman can be liked is if she has black features:dahell:

If thats the case, get the whole milk, not the skim. One of my sisters is 5'9 and for the LONGEST was self-conscious cause she was like a board. Just flat.
And dudes would clown her for that. Not every black woman has ridiculously curvy bodies and full lips and "fukk me" eyes. Anytime I see talks about
beauty standards, black men and women show their asses because they have a checklist of features they put in the forefront and if those aren't fulfilled, they
hit the :camby:Don't get me started on the retarded "She is average" meme. Most people are average:dahell:If we wanna simp regular chicks, what the fukk
is the problem? If im not walking around looking like Idras Elba, why do I have to find Kenya Moore attractive??? (I do, btw, even though she is a bird)

Like you judging chicks straight off of personality:stopitslime:

lupita was kind of forced on us though. she wasn't even picked for beauty. her breakout role was a dirty, smelly slave. lupita aint ugly by any stretch, but she's not even a top 20 chick in her home country.

She gained fame for her impressive performance as well as for her fashion/looks. And like Jennifer Lawrence she also gained fame due to having a dynamic, relocatable personality.

I get what you are saying, but I hate when people say this. If she was lighter, her features might look really strange. Its like black people with thin lips
or white people with afros. Changing the shade doesn't suddenly make someone more or less attractive. It changes the dynamics completely. We can look
at an albino and know from jump why they look out of place.

But her features don't look strange from the jump. Her face is symmetrical and teeth are straight. I don't get it.

Lupita is beautiful, it's not like she's receiving praise she doesn't deserve. Personally I think it's important to recognize and acknowledge the beauty of darker women because it sends an important message to young dark black girls. Whereas skin color for black men seems less important media wise, the slant of media coverage of black women was almost exclusively on light skin women until Lupita showed up.

Imagine being a dark black girl and not seeing anyone who looks like you on TV/music/etc. Or if you did see someone who looked like you, they were in a bad role or the butt of a joke or "the help." I can't even imagine the mental anguish that shyt causes. When you go to school and dudes would literally jump over you in order to get to some light skin black chick (or white chick).

Thank god for Lupita and all the other beautiful dark women. Anyone who helps people feel better about themselves gets dap from me.

Black people need to start to see black beauty in varieties. Lupita is beautiful but she is not the epitome of black beauty anymore than Beyonce Is. What bugs me is that blacks have a tendency to view black female beauty with stringent guidelines. We need variety not one/two that makes the cut. We love to brag about the diversity of looks/complexions but inadvertently only one type of look gets promoted.

Um, yea? I simped hella fat and flat chicks in my day. I posted this chick
Put her in a thread and got no love for her. Why? She average as fukk. But I saw her interviews and read up on her and got to simping. I have curved attractive chicks that turned me
off for various reasons, only to be left dry-dikked for my choice. A beautiful chick does not instantly mean an attractive one. They are two different things. I look for nuance, which is why I
hate beauty standards.

The wonderful thing about beauty is its plurality. I find Beyonce beautiful as well as Lupita and the above model you posted. We should push plurality instead of juxtaposing black beauty as one above of all.

Beauty is complex but to me it is how features come together flawlessly...its symetry and many other things. I love women_mainly black women and have always wanted to publish a black female photobook that showcases black female beauty in its plurality from all around the world. That's my plan....

I digress I think the caveat for some people isn't so much that lupita is considered ugly but that she is considered the singular definition of black female beauty. To that I say...black female representation has been lacking for a long time.

lol @ acting like there can only be one "dark skinned woman"

no one says that corny ass shyt if it were a yellow bone or any other race

we don't fukk prepubescent llamas over here slime

Yup...I think that's why people think finding a darker complected black female that's attractive is like finding unicorn. There's a false sense of scarcity when they are just not promoted. Or it wil be one in a sea of same old...rarely do you see of sea of darker complectef black women. They are always on token status...which gives this false sense that light skinned beauties are easoer to come by than darker skinned ones.

Beauty and desirability are two different things. We all dislike different things, and Lupita is polarizing because she was put up on this pedastal, while we might go
:dahell:She ain't special.

Thats what the fighting is about, and some people take the shyt too far. For instance
lupita1.jpg

You can still see her face shape even though that glass is in the way, and while her features are very well-weighted and nearly flawless, without makeup, we
have ALL seen women who look like her. They just don't happen to be as talented or well-known so white folks got Lupita up her like she the best thing smoking.
That is why people are so passionate on both sides, simply because she is forced on us when we have all seen more attractive women.

No, not more beautiful, more attractive. Totally different. If her shade was different it either would be so extreme that she would look scary or it would be
so negligible that no one would care. She just isn't "that" kinda of attractive.
