1) She graduated from Yale Drama School. Though, yes, she's technically a Yale grad, she isn't in the traditional sense. Her academic credentials start and end with Stoner Hampshire College.

2) Despite her Oscar, no one actually knows if she can act or not. The jury is still out. She barely had any speaking parts on 12YAS.

3) She's getting minor degrading roles in major productions; she's clearly doing something wrong if you consider that chicks without an Oscar nomination to their names are getting lead roles.

4) What exactly makes her a good model? People need to stop depending on celebrities to raise their kids.

I don't think other people were saying what I was, which is that there are no winners in the Lupita debate. Either some people are
super behind her, or super against her, cause we want sisters to win. The problem is when you have a lady put as "The most beautiful alive" I guarantee

Man beauty standards are par to life just like for the most part if you aren't at a certain baseline level as a dude you're done dating wise too. I would never be down for no standard less stuff that's crazy and doesn't make sense. The best things in any area usually has some sort of standards. Also most men by nature want women with some version of ass and t*ts. You trying to skirt around nature isn't going to work to well. Same way if a dude got a small dikk they feel insecure about that because they know whats the standard is and they dint measure up literally and figuratively.

Lupita is beautiful, it's not like she's receiving praise she doesn't deserve. Personally I think it's important to recognize and acknowledge the beauty of darker women because it sends an important message to young dark black girls. Whereas skin color for black men seems less important media wise, the slant of media coverage of black women was almost exclusively on light skin women until Lupita showed up.

Imagine being a dark black girl and not seeing anyone who looks like you on TV/music/etc. Or if you did see someone who looked like you, they were in a bad role or the butt of a joke or "the help." I can't even imagine the mental anguish that shyt causes. When you go to school and dudes would literally jump over you in order to get to some light skin black chick (or white chick).

Thank god for Lupita and all the other beautiful dark women. Anyone who helps people feel better about themselves gets dap from me.

I can't agree with this because where are your parents at? I don't need tv to tell me I look good or not. I'm out here in the real world and have interactions with people that aren't turning me down so I must be ticking some chicks boxes. Same for women if they out in the world getting dudes they should know they aren't unattractive. If they aren't getting that maybe they need to work on themselves no different than a dude in the same position. I can agree maybe for younger kids they might need that reassurance more but I still think your parents/support system should more than help you out then. I know mine did. Also I'm not feeling sorry for chicks not getting choose for whatever reason no more than I do for dudes not getting picked for whatever reason.
