The runner could be outside the tackle box on the goal line.

you sure about that? so your at the goal line. running back bounces to the outside. i would think thats still the tackle bax because there's still defenders around. compared to at the 40-50 yard line and you have so much more open space.

You bounce out a toss play to the goal line and you're near the pylon, they wont consider that the tackle box.

Key is they have the 3 yard pass the LOS stipulation, but what happens when you're at the 5?

It's a fukked up convoluted rule in a game with too many rules to begin with. More you need to interpret the worse off the game will be

this rule is fukking garbage and terrible but you guys gotta realize the NFL is getting sued into oblivion.

We'll be lucky to have a league in 15 years.

as long as tackling is allowed, it will continue to get sued into the oblivion just because of the nature of its sport

and this rule doesnt help the worst position in terms of body impact- RBs- AT ALL. in fact, it makes it worse for them.

if yall watch this AD clip he drops his SHOULDER not head

AD drops his shoulder when he hits the hole not his head

The point is it's going to be subjective. Some refs are going to call that hitting with the helmet. Instead of it being a big play for the Vikings, it's 15 yards from the spot of the foul! And that's major. That can be drive ending. This penalty can make or break games for some teams.

you really think the NFL gonna lose that top spot?
even with this new rule you, me, & rest of this board will still continue to watch. the NFL not losing anything right now. CFL & College Football definitely not taking its spot

I think college football could become more popular, the problem is the NFL has such a deathgrip on their fans.

NFL will never lose that #1 spot, but it can lose it's popularity though.

This year was the first year in a long time the SB viewership actually went down from the prior year

Yeah, I agree in spirit but this is the first real rule that alters a fan favorite aspect of the game. The tuck rule while terrible was a minor issue that only popped one from time to time (I'm talking in terms of where the penalty decided the outcome of the game) but the runningback crown rule is far more frequent. It could alienate fans if they are watching players sliding or running out of bounds all the time. Fans would get bored quick and attendance could decline aswell as viewers and ratings. People are cynical, change something they love and they will quickly be okay without it with so much more to invest their freetime into.

MLB was #1 for the longest, but that's over, WCW took WWF's crown (until Vince bought it that is), AND 1 had surpassed NBA in terms of popularity, Boxing was king but clearly it's all about the UFC now. So while I know the NFL is king and it's not going anywhere, shyt could change on them real quick if they keep these drastic game altering changes up.

I like the rule. Under no circumstance during a football game does a player ever need to drop his head. Helmets are for protection not be used as weapons. If they didn't have helmets would they be dropping their heads? Of course not. Let's get back to the fundamentals.

:mindblown:

This "let's get back to fundamentals" thing is bullshyt. Niqqas have been dropping their heads since the game started.

You can tell the dudes in here who've never played the game in their lives.
