Just to add on, I find it crazy that carrolton heist doesn't get as much love / attention as covert coupe did
Mack book.. Black rally stripes.... The amg joint
fukking hell that project was crazy
Idk man everything I’ve heard from this project sounds like fire. They really may have found a way to equal Covert Coup
From what I understand, when they were making Covert Coup, Spitta really asked Alc to just give him his craziest batch of full on Alc type beats, and he asked Alc not to try and cater his production style for the type of music Spitta makes. The result was a more unconventional clashing of two totally different sounds and styles. Like you said, a lot of it was "gritty space age shyt."I was disappointed by carrolton heist but that’s because I expected covert coupe level. I feel like both alc and spitta were underwhelming. Like others have mentioned the super tecmo Bo beats are more covert coupe higher echelon ALC beats. But that makes me wonder…. How much of this is on ALC if it disappoints? Because ALC still is making the Covert Coupe level beats maybe spitta just don’t have the ear for em no more. Like @TheDarceKnight said this shyt giving me those beach vibes like yacht rock. Not saying that’s bad but let’s just say currency had access to all the alc beats including the ones from super tecmo Bo and other projects but just picked the wrong ones. Like I said the vibe I get from spitta lately is all palm trees and Miami Beach lately especially that first single. I’m fact his last 5 mixtapes all have a ocean drive/Miami Beach cruising vibe to it. Nothing wrong with that but I feel like covert coupe had a specific gritty space age revolution type sound. Something captured perfectly instrumentally on super tecmo Bo…..
^ on the short list of my favorite alchemist beats ever and lowkey was the start of Wayne’s resurgence on the feature tip

I liked Carrollton Heist, but I never expected Covert Coup and I never will again. Covert Coup was lightning in a bottle shyt. By the time they made C. Heist, Alc had done a lot more collab albums, and they didn't need to clash their worlds again. I think they wanted to make something that had more of a consistent and chill, breezy summer vibe to it. I don't think it's that Spitta doesn't have the ear anymore. I just think he's on the palm tree beach cruising at night vibe like you said. I'd love to hear Spitta over beats like Hot Water Tank, Francois, Steel Wool, First 48, and Moth Flame, but I just don't think that's what he wants to make.
This day and age, Boldy is kind of in the mental space that Spitta was in during Covert Coup, in terms of him just wanting Alc to pick the beats himself. Boldy likes for Alc to just give him some of his most experimental and hardest beats---a lot of folks here have noted that Bo Jackson and Super Tecmo have a lot of joints on them that kinda remind them of Covert Coup.
I actually fukked with Carrollton Heist hard. But you're right. It's a totally different vibe than Covert Coup. EDIT: That's almost why I wish he hadn't changed the name. I don't wanna be comparing this album to Covert Coup when it's not out yet, but by making the big announcement of this album's name change...it invites this type of talk. People are gonna compare this more than they would have otherwise.
I wish they would man.classic post bruhthey could do a documentary on that album
