I understand folks want to do speak their peace, but let's be reality "Django" is the furthest thing from a black empowerment movie, and brothers shytting on Spike to praise Tarrantino is a bit disturbing.

With that said, Gregory did make some points.

on some real shyt, i THINK it's incredibly sad how ignorant most of you on this forum are. i can tell you guys have NEVER at some point in your life actually tried to educate yourself on anything. you relying on youtube, tariq nasheed, this guy and etc in order to get your daily dose of knowledge. what the hell do you guys spend your time doing? when is the last time you guys even bothered to read a book or to even browse through one where you can learn something fundamental to your ass? geez. nobody is a know it all BUT geez, you guys literally seem uninterested in knowing anything interesting. you guys seem to be interested in a whole lot of bullshyt.

and you guys think that you're getting smart becaue you're watching a 15 minute youtube video about d'jango unchained? my question is if the movie didn't come out, would you even give a fukk about any of this? geez, this place is sad. man..... i think it's funny how folks try so hard to show that they give a fukk BUT in doing so they show that they truly don't give a fukk. it shouldn't take d'jango unchained to get your ass to know about what happened in slavery and etc.

people have been saying shyt like this for years..all Tarantino's movie did was spark up more discussion about it.

the issue pretty much lies with how much license Tarantino has to use the word ****** in his movies...and the context in which the material is presented.

some folks took offense to there being funny moments in a "slavery movie"( the whole KKK ride with Jonah Hill), cause slavery was not entertaining, nor was it funny.

you had people who were mad that DiCaprio played such a convincing slave owner...like he's supposed to half ass it, and then they'd say he was sugar coating how bad slavery was.

there is a shytload of fake outrage over this...most of it from people who don't know shyt about their own people.

That video of Jeffrey Wright is probably the best observation I've heard regarding the characters and story of Django. Most of what dikk Gregory said sounded like a lot of rambling with a few gems sprinkled in. All in all this movie is getting too many black people irritated when the best thing you can do is avoid spending your money and time on it.

yeah, funny how you have some folks only caring about slavery now and in feburary, black history then when it's march or when this thing dies down, it's back to usual. they don't give a shyt. they don't care to be educated. they just are happy with being ignorant. not even with just slavery, simple shyt. trying to find out why the system is the way it is. just to go into a bookstore like barnes and noble or the library, just pluck something off of the shelf which is nonfiction and based off of real things that are going on and read a page or two. it's something. nobody can go wrong with knowing something. it doesn't even have to apply to their everyday life.

like for instance, there's this book, don't remember the name, that just came out called the history of disability in the united states. i read some pages of it at barnes and noble and it pretty much talks about how this country treats the disabled and a history of it. it talks about how the native americans had a system of sign language way before whoever did it. talks about how disabled slaves that were blind, deaf or whatever were killed off unless they looked like something straight out of a freak show, they would then be sold off to whoever for some high price so they can be showed off like a trophy or something. that's just off of a few pages. folks busy waiting for tariq nasheed to release another "true colors" or black history month or waiting for something bad to happen in order to educate themselves period. it should NEVER be like that. an interest in learning should always be there. it should stop after school ends.

what are you talking about? Come on, QT done used shyt like "indochina", "kike", "Gook" and stuff like that in his movies...now don't get me wrong it might be much to many people. But people say nikka a lot more than any other slur/racial epithet in casual conversation.

And i also ask, are people who are doing the ****** counts in QT movies counting the times where black people are saying ******? How can it...its ok for us to say ****** in movies because "thats how we talk"...well guess what its how non nikkas talk too.

:manny: all this over a word...something that can't do anything to you.

He really doesn't use other deragtory terms for women, or jews as much as he does for blacks. I've seen all of his movies with the exception of Inglorious b*stards. I realize black people say the word, which I don't condone. As such, it would make sense for black people to say the word occassionaly if it fits the character. But Tarratino has characters saying profusely. My point is that theres a double standard, we all know if he used deragtory terms for Jews, who finance his movies, and distribute them, the Weinstein Company; they would have a holy shi* fit. I don't know if you remember this, but go do a websearch on the controversy of the Michael Jackson song They Don't Care About Us.

:what:

No one gives two shhs about Tarantino using the N-word. He's been using it and it's not going to stop. That cat has been out the bag. The problem with Django unchained is slavery being made into a joke and comedy. There is nothing "great" or "new" about the formula used. White man effectively ran the show and orchestrated Django's "revenge"

People defending this movie and Tarantino are the same white liberals in blackface who would call for a boycott if Spike had made it(even before seeing it). Again BET is considered ghetto, uncouth and silly, yet black Americans keep the ratchet shows on VH1 afloat.

Why Does BET Get The Scrutiny While VH1 Gets A Pass? | Madame Noire | Black Women's Lifestyle Guide | Black Hair | Black Love

It's simple. The white man's ice is colder. That's my problem with Django Unchained. Black people are calling for Spike and others to make these movies but it would be shelved quick.Tarantino having the audacity to diss Roots? :wtf:
@Paz

No one is forcing you to stay here breh. You can never log in and I doubt anyone would care. I don't think I've ever heard or read anything by Tariq Nasheed.

while you're caught up with your nikka geiger counter.... just how much have you paid attention to Tarantino films? how can you possibly even pay attention to a film, if you're only cognizant of one word and the amount of times it's said?

How many nikkas per movie is acceptable to you? 5? 10? 15?

y'all make it seem like every Tarantino movie is a 2 hour long Kramer rant...when they clearly arent.

Spike Lee's fakkit ass wishes he had the cult following that QT has...and he cries about everybody who's doing it bigger than him.

white folks call us ******s all day, but you hearing the word 38 times in Jackie Brown is too much for you?
:childplease:
I'm far from caught up on a nikka geiger counter. You completely miss my point. I've watched all of his films with the exception of Inglorious b*stards, and Django, and I've only recently have paid attention to his use of the word since the controversy began over Django. Just recently I watched True Romance a few weeks ago, a script which he wrote, and noticed the word is used repeatedly. I'm going to rewatch Natural Born Killers to see if he uses the word. I then watched Reservior Dogs over, which I watched more than ten years ago, and noticed his characters use the term profusely. I don't like the word, and don't use it. I realize there are black people, and white people who do. I just read a book by Jay McInerney, a white author, where some of the black characters use the word. It would be unrealistic to have a piece of fiction where the word isn't used in a time where its used. But you're completely obfuscating, and ignoring my point about the use of other deragtory words, which he doesn't use, which made me ask the question, why doesn't he use them?

That's bullshh man. Black people have been singing that song for decades now and in about ten years the ongoing degradation of slavery will be continuing. And not one movie on our "glory years" will be made.

The cat is out out the bag breh. Holocaust is treated accordingly as the brutal atrocity it was. Jews don't need a comedy to have a discussion about the holocaust. Slavery has now turned into a joke. It has been equated to the NFL combine, Mexicans crossing the border and now a major picture slapstick comedy. The plight of Africans Americans has become a joke ala laugh at my pain. There is no reversing it. This controversy will boil over and blacks in entertainment will continue missing the mark.

Could Spike had made this movie and have it been this well received? :aicmon:. Bet you the same negroes on Quentins side would take up the position of Spike Lee.

I said the bold the minute I seen the very first movie trailer for Django :bryan:

I'm waiting for these cacs to make a hollywood film making fun of the Holocaust...of course it would never happen :aicmon:
