I think they can get the Latino vote easier. A lot of the GOP platform is attractive to Latino voters and the only stumbling block has been immigration. If they can change their stance from accusing all Latinos of taking away American jobs and painting them as being akin to vermin infesting the country they can snag their vote. And the quickest way to do that is to take the lead on immigration reform legislation and actually make sure it gets passed.
When Democrats tried to get the DREAM Act and a path to citizenship for young undocumented immigrants through Congress in 2010, Republicans blocked the immigration reform measure in the Senate. But after a campaign in which GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney staked out harsh anti-immigration positions, and with President Obama winning 75 percent of Latino voters, several key leaders in the Republican party are coming out in favor of immigration reform
-House Speaker John Boehner (OH): Saying the issue has been around for far too long, Boehner said in the ABC interview that Im confident that the president, myself, others can find the common ground to take care of this issue once and for all.
-Former Gov. Haley Barbour (MS): Haley argued on the Today show that Republicans need to be in favor of good policy. And good policy on immigration in the United States is, we are in a global battle for capital and labor, and we need to have what is good economic policy for America on immigration because we do need labor, he said. We not only need Ph.Ds in science and technology, we need skilled workers and we need unskilled workers. And we need to have an immigration policy that is good economic policy, and then and then the politics will take care of itself.
-Radio host Sean Hannity: On his radio show Thursday, Hannity told his listeners that he has evolved on immigration policy and now supports a pathway to citizenship. The problem cant go on, he added. Its simple to me to fix it, Hannity said. I think you control the border first. You create a pathway for those people that are here you dont say youve got to go home. And that is a position that Ive evolved on. Because, you know what, its got to be resolved. The majority of people here, if some people have criminal records you can send them home, but if people are here, law-abiding, participating for years, their kids are born here, you know, first secure the border, pathway to citizenship, done.
Among Latino voters, immigration was the second most important issue behind jobs. Sixty percent of Latinos in the U.S. know someone who is an undocumented immigrant, and 90 percent are within two generations of immigrating to the U.S. After Romney spent most of his campaign embracing harmful immigration policies, most Latino voters reported that they thought Romney was hostile toward Latinos, while 66 percent said they believe Obama truly cares about Latinos.

i don't know i'd say they have burnt some bridges for more than the next few years. They'll have to completely wipe a lot of the guy sin office out of office. Dudes talking about baby rape gift baskets wont live that down.

Get immigration reform passed....
Doing those things wont win the vote entirely but it'll be enough to flip the crucial key areas that need to be flipped.
Obama needs to really make some serious moves to get this country back in shape by 16 or the GOP, given certain "moves" are made really don't have that far to go.
Youth don't vote like they should, on the flip they will never be a STRONG GOP group.
Women and Latino's are there for the taking...well not "taking" but "chiseling of a small enough piece to make a difference"
Good news for the dems with latinos and women is both groups are more socially liberal, i.e. taking care of the less fortunate, play that right and get this economy going and really the next dem will have to focus on the white vote...which obama lost big...and make no mistake it is an important vote.
The only problem with this is that the democrats and obama will get all the credit for any type of immigration reform.

I think the GOP's only hope is to throw the christian right in the bushes
but even then they need to get more diverse/inclusive in their language and policies
so the only way they can get a stable "in" with these groups is to just focus on economic conservatism
Frankly I think the Dems have a natural majority if they can just capture some of the south somehow
can we get rid of one party first
then focus on shaping the goals of the other one
