Nobody said being a boss was easy or easier.
Many people in this thread have said that. Maybe not those exact words, but the argument boils down to "you should be a boss so you can only work the hours you want to and never take shyt from anyone"
You think your son is going to respect you because you found or took the easy way? Just 'being comfortable'?
I have daughters. To what degree they respect me when they are adults (my oldest is 2.5 now and doesn't understand a concept like respect) will be dependent on a multitude of factors. To try to simplify it with your questions is asinine. Also, the more you work, the less time you spend with your kids. That can have a detrimental impact on how they view you. Life is a balance.
Whether thats Lebron doin deals with nike and powerade plus playin basketball
Lebron is where he is because he hit the genetic lottery. I'm not saying he doesn't work hard or didn't widely take advantage of opportunities. But practice, hard work and dedication don't result in everyone becoming Lebron.
Most people especially kids respect hard work and discipline. Although people are easily swayed or bought into the flashy, easy lookin shyt most people understand that comes with hard work and that the true easy isnt easy. Most people dont want Warren Buffet, Bill Gates, Lebrons or even Lil Waynes life because of the work ethic involved. Sure theyd love surface things like the bank account, fast cars, nice clothes and women but when they are truly honest with themselves they know they cant manage the money,
:wow:
Money is like a videogame if you stop moving you will eventually die or lose. Nobody in this life is getting money or becoming better as a person or businessman by doing the same thing this year they did last year
:dahell:
People that work a 9-5 and find comfort in their position (it pays well, they are good at it, can check in and out with no issues) may have their head above water but they arent swimming.

Some might have alluded to that, but id like to think that they arent thinking that, like with the people i mentioned id hope that people dont think their lives are by any means easier just because they see them on yachts and cashin big checks- hopefully they understand that more work goes into it behind the scenes.

work life balance is serious too, you'd have to be one hard working motherfukker to sincerely fukk that up. But when your kids are older there might be some resentment but as they mature, for the most part they will appreciate the fact that you're in their life and you busted your ass to make sure they had a roof over their heads, clothes on their back and food in their stomach. Kids are ruthless one day someones gonna be talkin shyt to your little girl like
"Run home to daddy bytch" and shes gonna be like "At least i know my daddy and he has a job! Who's your daddy?" Your gonna have to leave work to go get her from school and when your sittin in the principles office and she tells you how it went down your gonna be like:yeshrug:

Yea but not every player is as gifted genetically as lebron just as there are a million players that will ever have the success of lebron, and for those that work that much harder to share the stage or even see the league for a moment is a testament to hard work and dedication. There are genetic freaks in nfl that turn out garbage because they have no work ethic

Nobody said being a boss was easy or easier. With more power comes more responsibility. You think your son is going to respect you because you found or took the easy way? Just 'being comfortable'? People in better places than you or me arent there because of a fluke (unless the won the lottery or sold out which typically doesnt last) they are there because they work hard. They hustle, they have their hands in more pots then we can imagine or are aware of. Whether thats Lebron doin deals with nike and powerade plus playin basketball or a small business owner in charge of day to day operation, promotion and everything else.

Sure theyd love surface things like the bank account, fast cars, nice clothes and women but when they are truly honest with themselves they know they cant manage the money, continually make moves to keep it coming. Money is like a videogame if you stop moving you will eventually die or lose. Nobody in this life is getting money or becoming better as a person or businessman by doing the same thing this year they did last year or the year before.

The message is lost through his brash delivery but he's trying to tell people to hustle.

People that work a 9-5 and find comfort in their position (it pays well, they are good at it, can check in and out with no issues) may have their head above water but they arent swimming. A problem with society and what its conditioning people to do is find comfort in treading water. The kids might have laughed and been entertained by the hare, but in the end they respect the tortoise.

Its completely different operating from the point of control, and operating under control. As I stated before people respect hard work, thats what Dame meant by talkin about Envy and his kid. With more power comes more responsibility---and contrary to popular connotation responsibility is a good thing. We shouldnt be afraid of challenges, they shouldnt scare us, we should strive to find our breaking points and be the best we can be.

For some that might be being a high school janitor because we dont have the education or skills to be more, for others it may be being an owner or ceo. Everyone understands that there are going to be ground workers and literally everyone cant be a boss but what Im taking from Dame is that you dont just settle and find comfort but push yourself be the #1 dude in whatever it is you do.

You get out of life what you put into it. Those dudes I mentioned that are successful, they are on their grind way more than the average nikka with the 9-5, the bosses that come in on saturdays and stay when the doors are closed --thats why they have bigger payoffs.

The money that comes easy, goes easy.

He didn't say any of that though. That's what you wanted him to say. He said the opposite. He told Envy that his son doesn't respect him, not because of hard work but because he doesn't have a title of boss. He said that anyone that has a boss is not a real man. Your parents busted their ass. working multiple jobs, to give you a better life, but you can't respect them since they had bosses. That's asinine. Envy mentioned that he worked hard, he loves what he does, is comfortable AND owns shares in the company but Dame tried to refute all of that.

Dame seems like the type that only respects titles. That's why he's not making movies anymore. He won't sit with the brains but he'll sit with the absent minded boss.

everybody talking about this dame dash interivew. celebrities, legends, industry people, public intellectuals. dame dropped a classic brehs. when the last time we seen some intellectual ether like this. everyone just laughs at kanye when he does his attention seeking interiews, but people scrambling to undermine dame shows he touched a nerve. a lot of truth in what he said.
How do you figure that when he constantly contradicts himself he makes no sense at all.

You know who used other people's money to build their businesses?

Bill Gates, Steve Jobs. Zuckerberg and a hundred other billionaires.

This whole you have to spend your own money or your not a boss is the silliest ahit I have ever heard.

I'm saying.

Lol this was a good ass interview. :mjlol: I don't want to parrot what anyone else already said, so I'ma stay away from how vague he was being about "being a boss" and business in general. I will say this tho:

Dame's just a classic variation of a slick Harlem nikka who hustle, that just about sums it up. If you slow minded, you'll be wowed or buy into half of the bullshyt he be spinnin, but at his core, he's just a hustler.

Albeit, one who's fallen on hard times, but he's always thinking about a way to come up. Even the mindfukking, trolling, insulting, leading to "business ideas" he was proposing to em all, was nothing more than a means to an end. I doubt it'll get taken seriously by any of em, but on the off chance it does, Dame talked his way into getting some cooperating cats who are willing to buy into a move with him.

What you nikkas fail to see though, is that Dame's desperate as hell. Which is why even though he can't help his ego still being arrogant and abrasive, he still came back to wanting to do a deal a couple times throughout the interview, hoping they're wowed and insecure enough about the "boss" beating he gave them, to want to follow suit and hustle wit him. nikka WANTS Envy/Char to question their position, like :ohhh: "Damn, I'm not a boss...I'm a radio host...I need to make a move," even though they both prolly got more bread than he does atm.

You could tell he REALLY was hurt by the Spike shyt, and that's most likely because he RESPECTS & admires Spike. He wouldn't come at Spike the way he did TBC cats. Even though he'd need TBC cats more than they need him, he still lets his ego get in the way of business. If he coulda reinvented himself and came with more humility, he could probably be making some more noteworthy moves out here due to the support & networking benefits it'd bring. And regardless of who's at fault for the Roc shyt, you can tell he's salty as fukk. Now all he has is his name to live off of (which ain't holding too much weight anymore), and dreams to sell to cats who are needy or uninformed enough to work with him. (Mook) Not only that, but he basically tried to shut down any real questions about his shady moves, character, or the success of his ex-partners, with shyt like "I don't speak on other men...I have NUTS...not a vagina..." Just general corn shyt used to deflect.

Mook prolly ain't no dummy, but he's gonna rock with Dame and hope it'll benefit him in some way, just like Dame gonna rock with Mook in the event shyt pays off in the long run. It's gotta burn that he ain't just "make another Jay". Dame's the type that'll be clutching on to his last dollar, selling teenagers on the block hoop dreams, trying to come up himself. Him & OG Daniel probably go back, but I'm sure even he's smart enough to see through the bullshyt. He's along for the ride too, "shyt, I'm in a lil movie & rollin wit Dame now" :smugbiden: But 10, 15 years ago Dame probably wouldn't even take this nikka calls if his life depended on it.

Industry crazy. :mjlol:

But it was a good ass interview. Even though this nikkas a dikkhead, it was funny seeing trolls get trolled. Dame knows how to CONTROL a conversation, be evasive as hell when questioned on specifics, belittle you, make you question yourself, hate, love and envy him, all at once. It's not graceful at all, but he's got tact. :russ:

Think this is a great conversation that exemplifies two very different mindsets..One mindset is being sold full throttle to our youth.. Its the mindset of go to school , accrue a lot of debt and then work for someone.... Dame reps another mentality of building up your own and creating wealth for true freedom...

As you peep this debate, note that DJ Envy works for Clear Channel...He is syndicated around the country and basically in terms of on air personalities he's at the top of the heap.. This is important to note when Dame asks him some pointed questions

I dont think Dame put him down.. he gave him a reality check.. he reminded him that even with all that hard work and him being a millionaire he's still not able to pass assests from the empire he built to his son..

Dame reminded him that his ultimate job is to build up something to be passed down.. Not park on a plantation and be happy ..especially a clear channel..

The lessons once taught was to work hard and eventually have your own.. Folks got seduced into building up something they didn't own with the promise of pensions and other trappings that would be a reward for the hard work.. After seeing how long term workers were treated after the crash in 08, 09 and seeing how corporations have fought to dead pensions and worker protector rules, it would be foolish to push folks into a workforce and call that a satisfactory goal.. One may have to be there out of necessity. You may have to be there for a moment.. but its short term and should be noted as such

lastly because Dame accurately pointed the reality and power dynamics at work, Envy should've shut his mouth and took notes.. Instead he defended a company that is beyond foul.. That's why this resonated.. This wasn't a hard worker defending his craft.. This was hard worker spewing the company line for a workplace that his shytted on his peers, his culture, his community and workers in general.. There was absolutely no excuse for that defense.. None what so ever.

Dame imo is a capitalist and Envy works for Bain Capital.. Mitt Romney's former company that devastated jobs.. nd pushed for legislation to keep workers up ended..You can't get more exploitative then that that..

With that being said.. what Dame is saying is wisdom.. He laid out power dynamics and ownership and how build wealth for his future generations. That ideology can be applied to cooperative economics. It can be scaled up to include more folks outside his immediate circle and into the community.. Dame talks about control and ultimately many who are against capitalism are talking community control .where all share in the wealth and all have basic needs met..

Dame can be difficult as everyone knows but he was spitting knowledge about the "Boss Vs Employee" mentality. A lot of blacks because of slavery up to this day have been programmed to have the Employee mentality. It got so funny when he started wilin out about talking about Jay.
