Since about 90% of the posters in this thread have poked tunnel sized holes in his philosophy, this will be my last comment, for those still enamored with the BS game he was spitting.
There is NOTHING wrong with being an employee, or being an employee all of your life or recognizing that you will have someone in position of power over you all of your life. You just want to work hard, and hope to create a better life for yourself and/or your family through whatever means you take to get there. Not everyone is meant to be an boss or supervisor, just like not everyone is cut to be an employee. Not everyone wants to be an owner, and I doubt that anyone wants to be a boss or owner of a company worth $0 or less than. Maybe Dame does; it seems like it.
What Dame should have said was that it's important to establish yourself as a commodity in whatever you do, so that you can position yourself to make bigger and better moves. THAT'S IT. It has nothing to do with being a "boss" or an "employee"; those titles are BS and neither can exist without the other. You can't be an boss with a "fukk workers" mentality and expect to have a business that thrives. He could have told TBC that they are valuable to Clear Channel, so when it's time to re-up their contracts, they can use their position to negotiate more. They can leverage whatever their offers are from other media conglomerates for higher salaries, more shares, syndication in more markets etc etc. Why the fukk would they start their own station by using internet? That's moving backwards, just to say "we have our own radio podcast". He could have said that his name is valuable so that allows him to attach his name to various products/ventures while assuming minimum risks financially. He could have said that his know-how puts him in positions to collaborate with other movers and shakers to bring HIS ideas into fruition. He could have said that he works for no one because he is a brand, his own business, and that whatever you do, it's important to establish yourself as such. Whatever skillset you bring to the table, maintain them and use them to put you in positions to better yourself and livelihood.
But nope, he didn't say any of that. That wasn't even his message. His message was "use your own money", "you not shyt and your kids don't respect you if you have a boss", "shares in a media conglomerate don't mean a thing and still isn't something that you can pass down to your kids", "work for no one", "don't save money" etc etc...I'm done. Let me go back to reading and laughing
