There are black millionaires all over Harlem who the public has never heard of. Do you think all of that money from the 70's, 80's and 90's just vanished? For every Frank Lucas and Rich Porter that you heard of there is a peer who stayed off of the radar and still has that money. OG is well respected and far from broke.

nah...he washed up....look like he pushin in his late 40's with sunglasses on in a bldg, trying to kick knowledge to yall clowns

Let's leave it at this because you are completely right. As a business owner or boss, you get the lion's share of the profits. That's the key difference maker.

Nah, that is just half of it. You leaving out the other half of the boss doing the lion's share of the work, putting in more time than regular employees. Most folk only focus on the reaping and not the sowing!

Regular workers must still get paid. The boss is the one who takes the hit when things aren't going well. And trust, things don't always go well no matter what u selling.

High risk, high reward.

I sincerely believe dame suffers from some sort of mental disorder, he completely contradicts himself regularly but rationalize it with such passion it sounds believe if you aren't paying attention

I'm sure it doesn’t help that he is surrounded by yes men like mook trying to come up who will agree with him regardless

Mook wasn't even agreeing with most that stuff that Dame was speaking. He spent most the interview laughing at some of the sh!t he was saying and looking at him with the :mjpls: face. There was even a point where they asked him if he agreed with the having the a boss/job is dishonorable sh!t Dame was talking and Mook said "naw, I didn't say that". He even got noticeably upset when Dame tried to say he'd be the underdog in a Mook/Drake battle.

OG Daniel or whatever his name is and Mook are yes men. People like Dame need yes men around to make them sound smart

They may be Yes Men, I don't know. I'm just saying Mook didn't really conduct himself like a Yes Man in that video.

this has probably been said, so I am just going to say this nikka here :snoop:.. He may have some kind of a point about how being a boss means you answer to nobody and ofcourse its better. But he is talking down on everybody that makes money for these bosses, everybody that is doing good that doesnt own a busines, everybody that dont want to go trhrough what bosses go throught. the long hours and all the other stuff. Like if you aint a boss, you are a slave or a lesser person :stopitslime::camby: I'd tell that nikka to his face in harlem to get the fukk out of here with that bullshyt.. I see why everybody left with jay and he not a part of the business that made him the most money..

I agree with you to me its even bigger then that he has not been successful without jay there is a reason why that is the only questions people want to ask him in the interviews he does even though its been over a decade. Yet he stands on his high horse and looks down at someone like Envy a man that likely makes more money then him is more successful and seems to have his life together more then him he just sounds crazy to me.

exactly right...and also, all this "passing down" stuff is not always the case. there are thousands and thousands of entrepreneurs who do nothing but break even or even lose money at the very end.

he makes it seem like just because you own something & are considered a boss because you own it, that you & the succeeding generations of your fam are automatically good for life.

if you're making $100K at a company in a job that's not killing you, save your money with no problem for yourself and family, invest correctly in certain things down the line, got a nice house with your family in order...you're a loser because you're not A BOSS??

he's a fukking clown.

Dame is a real life moron. he's the type of dude that thinks he's smarter than everybody cause he talks over everyone.

anytime someone tries to get a word in he just gets louder and louder.

man this guy is irritating. it's hard to even finish the interview. If i were the breakfast club, i would have told to pack his stuff up and him and his 2 yes men came gtfoh.
EXACTLY, like fukk this nikka, I will never listen to another interview form him again

thats the best way to some him up... He is the equivilant of a nikka that just got fired saying, I cant work for another nikka anyway, Im a boss... no you are an idiot, I bet no I know if someone offered him a job paying him the right price he would be all over, then try to tell everyone he has a partnership

What's funny to me is that Dame talks about being a "boss" (position) vs. "success" (results). Dame mentions all of these ventures yet none of them have marginally the success of DJ Envy on TBC. Even though I hate c00nlamane, he is doing something and seeing success. Talking about "equity" and "ownership" of failed ventures is like a homeless person saying that they "own" their home because they don't have to pay for it and if you are a homeowner you are a loser.

What has Dame done in the past decade that has been at all relevant? His son started a cookie company with some endowment (no doubt) provided from money Dame probably forked over years ago. Dame is shooting C- movies and acting like he's Tarantino, failing at motor oil and acting like he's Castrol. :usure:

What really made me cringe about this interview was the fact that he TRIED to go the regular route. He tries to say he is all about independence, yet he called Netflix (his own admission). You can post on youtube for free, you don't need netflix. He mentions that he wants to sit down with Spike Lee, when he could just as easily work with some up and comer. He is the guy who wants to get into the party, gets turned away :camby: because he's :flabbynsick:, and then talks about how he never wanted to get in anyway.

Dame just clowned like 99.9% out of everyone in this world including the two guys that came with him. Just cause you the boss don't mean shyt. I'd rather be an employee of a successful business than a boss at a orange stand. And he know damn well everyone can't be a boss without employers. Dumbass.
No, this is the one thing I agree completely with Dame.

It'll sound better if he didn't soak it with arrogance, but; black folk need to value ownership a wwhhhhooolllleee lot more than we do.

ie, we love biggin' up European clothes, but, down our own

You live within your means; nothing wrong with owning your own orange stand

Dame is just the wrong guy to sell it, because Dame does not value discipline, structure, or convention.

And buisness is one of the few places you will succeed by ignoring conventional wisdom. Dame sounded like an idiot to me and very out of touch. But I WILL ALWAYS give him props as long as he calls out black millionaires and black celebrities for not being a boss and building their own companies.

But his advice is not good for average Joes.

if you got a chance to make it to the c-suite and be marissa mayer and have to answer to a board....ain't nothing wrong with that! she may be a glorified supervisor and has to be the mascot of a company, but she does make bank. 117milly for 5yrs is cool since she is an employee and doesn't have to risk her money!

anyways, owning stocks & bonds are the only freedom i know...because you don't have to attempt to sell your products to anyone or win over advertisers. get in a ray rice or Peterson situation and noone is going to boycott any of the companies in which you own stocks. people boycott businesses and you can get fired from jobs....ain't nobody touching your stocks.
