He wants to compete. He just wants to do it in Portland which annoys everyone who isn't a Trail Blazers fan.
Nobody is annoyed about him competing in Portland. They're annoyed because he keeps on complaining about his situation: about how he isn't appreciated enough, about ring culture, about All-Star votes, about superteams etc.

He stuck riding around in a Rabbit getting mad at everyone else in a Cadillac.

It's the organization's decision to sit him out. Did y'all not see the same thing was said a week ago? He's also dealing with a calf injury. Why play him in meaningless games and risk a torn ACL or Achilles?
:unimpressed:
This goes against their narrative that he doesn't really want to compete or play so they choose to ignore this

Portland could also entertain the idea of trading Lillard.

"You now have to wonder if Lillard ever steps on the court again for Portland," writes Shams Charania at The Athletic.

Lillard is due $216 million over the next four seasons and has privately considered the possibility of a trade even though his public statements have demonstrated a desire to win with the Blazers.

"I expect there to be serious conversations about what's next for both sides," adds Charania.

Unless they get Victor, Dame has played his last game as a Blazer

Victor's timeline doesn't match up with Dame exactly but the hope would be he's basically immediately, generationally great and they're doing damage in the playoff picture right away like when Duncan went to the Spurs. The chances of that are extremely low but I can't see them moving Dame if they get Victor regardless

If they don't win the lottery I think they will move Dame to the highest bidder. He has too much pride to ask out but they will do the right thing and move him somewhere he at least can go to the playoffs
they already been through this

the highest bidder was always portland lol. that contract is fukking absurd for an old PG who don't even get you to the play-in after a whole rebuild

To expand on that, he's the breh in a Rabbit that isn't necessarily putting money away to get a Cadillac, and had a chance to swap it out, and signed another lease instead.

No one forced him to take extensions, especially not that last one that's probably going to leave the team in salary cap hell by the end of it. Breh just asking to be a salary dump. :mjlol:

His contract is crazy but 100% someone will take him on, he's still an All NBA caliber player
This isn't Bradley Beal, Dame clearly can be a big piece on a contending team

I'm saying that most because old PGs don't just slow down - they straight up implode. Suddenly and violently. Dame's got way too many miles for any team to meet Portland's asking price *and* absorb the risk inherent to the contract.

Anything could happen yeah... but any practical window for moving Dame has slammed shut. Its only fukkery deals from this point on.
