Dammit, my gaming pc suddenly has 100% cpu usage, need HELP

what are my options brehs?

if I wait until windows 10, will that update cure the problem?

should I reformat to factory? if I do this is there a way to keep my game save files?
whats the best port of call the fan is going crazy cpu usage on a 100 and this is as soon as I start the pc.

whats strange tho is graphic intense gamers like assasins creed will still run fine once I get into the game, but apps like chrome n IE will hang.

Is this only during gaming?

It sounds simple but update windows, patches fix these things. Second find what's causing the CPU usage. I had Office 365 running at 100% CPU for some stupid ass reason so I uninstalled it.

nah the crazy thing is, I turn pc on n straight away it'll be 100%. all browsers lag, but if I make it to a video game it doesn't lag and runs smooth. which I don't get but the fan will still be spinning like crazy.

I don't because sometimes the content loading from the external drive to pc. Can be slow depending on the game. If it's very graphically intense like gta5 An external install will probably hurt your frame rate.

For games like fallout 3. starcraft. And other last Gen games it shouldn't be a big deal but u wanna use your usb 3.0 port and if possible a solid state external drive for optimal performance.

Personally I wouldn't rely on it but if I had games that were not resource hogs I would use it

I was debating usinh a ssd hdd as the main hard drive for OS and everything else on secondary.

If malware scan doesn't work. You should reboot your computer, when it starts click Start>Run> then type MSCONFIG > Go to startup tab > deselect the programs then select them one by one to see if that specific program is the culprit. This may take a while depending on how many programs you got open though.

Blame Microsoft for making such a bottle feed hog OS system... I mean Genius even if it could be the least manageable as Linux.. but naw all the candygloss Windows platforms have and the way it's built around DOS the system is just gonna lag over time because the way the FILE system works behind Windows..thruout time you will get nasty Spyware,Malware Godfeedbid Trojan horses or even Cookie injections Bad Cache so, on and on your CPU will get slower and slower because guess what all the trash isn't getting taken out. Windows 7 was actually kinda decent..XP was better then 98..Windows ME was bad as 95 ...Windows 10 will probably be good but Windows is known for messing up your computer thruout time..and guess what u will buy a NEW COMPUTER or rebuild yours..Thanks to MS

wow you pc fans are paranoid,

if this was a bait thread I wouldn't have said it was probably my fault, it started since I plugged my cousins hard drive in. I can take screenshots of the 100% cpu usage if it makes you feel any better? this isn't a pc fault this is down to my ignorance and not knowing what software to have up incase of such events.

my last windows laptop was doing that. and it was mostly cuz of firefox or itunes. shyt was annoying. I was gonna re-install windows again, but ended up getting a MBP instead. plus the hinges on that laptop were on the verge of breaking and I didn't wanna deal with that either.
