They had to come up with another way to count "sales" because people aren't buying albums anymore. But the streams shyt is corny. I want to know that someone went out and actually bought my album. These dudes make literally pennies off of streams. They're giving out gold and platinum plaques now for streams because albums barely get to 500K now. It's a joke.

I don't understand why people just choose to lie, instead of doing their googles inorder to gain an understanding for shyt. The equivalent in equivalent sale, means that your shyt has to be streamed x amount of times to generate the same revenue as it would if you sold it physically to register 1 equivalent sale. In the pace streaming is moving, the industry will make more money than they've ever made soon. Revenue-wise they are increasing every year.

You realize they came up with the streaming album equivalent number based on how many streams equal a traditional sale? They make $0.006-$0.008 per stream and 1500 streams is equivalent to one album sale. If you multiply $0.007 by 1500 you'll get $10 which is the same as a digital itunes sale.

You guys are stuck in the past, there's still a lot of money in music maybe not what it once was but there's still a lot of money. Budden just bought a pretty nice crib from the money he's still making from music (or he still got a lot of that pump it up money?)

Honestly those numbers are if you're mainly independent, I know nikkas ain't selling like they used to back in the day but if you sell an album for like 10-15$ and keep about 7-10$ off that album and sell a couple thousand copies and then make steady streaming revenue, that's still a bunch of cash. There is money to be made in rap still, cause honestly being a millionaire is hard AS fukk no matter what you do, but if you can get a solid fan base and convince them to buy your shyt and you flip it your opportunities are endless.

I listen to his podcast and follow when he moved out the neighborhood that's in the video of him throwing rocks at those kids to this new house. He also posts pics/videos inside on his IG. I'm not sure where else Budden makes a living from so it's possible he's getting money from elsewhere but that'd be reaching and extremely unverified.
