He was much more athletic in 03 than he was in 06. That doesn't mean he was a better player. 08 Kobe wasn't as athletic, but he was a better decision maker.

Had more highlights in comparison to 08 maybe...
But SN: 98-03 Kobe was an aerial marvel. He attacked the basket a lot more, dunked a lot more, was more reckless, etc.
I agree. Kobe was probably at his height as a scorer in 05-06 but he was his height as an player in 08.
Decision making is one of the most under appreciated aspects of a player's game.

Kobe was smarter in 08 that's for sure and he finally had another teammate he could rely on. In Muse he even said he was almost too soft on his teammates in 08 but it helped his team game. 09 he put more edge on while still trusting his squad and it lead to back to back ships

that speed, that quickness, that athleticism. plus all the fundamentals that kept him in convo for best player in the league till he was 34. got dayum, prime Kobe was a different animal.
I don't think I've seen a better player in my life than kobe that season. and i been watching the nba consistenly since 1997. only prime shaq comes close. everyone else is fighting for 3rd place.
There were 10 better players than Kobe that season. Including the likes of Duncan, Garnett, LeBron, etc.

Nash was the only player who was his equal on offense but when you combine both ends of the floor (you know, offense + defense) Kobe was the 11th best player in the NBA that year.
