glad as hell I was able to retire early

finding shyt to do during the day is still hard

but I don’t miss work to save my life

later for that shyt

that alarm going off was the most depressing thing ever

I used to love mornings tho when I slept good enough to get up on my own

those days were few and far between tho

Start a record label :troll:

tried that in my late 20s/early 30s

failed miserably...

...but met some talented artists who most ppl will never hear from (:() and had a lot of fun faking the funk

too old for that shyt now...I faced all the problems major labels face when dealing w/ artists w/ NONE of the success lol

plus the technology/internet killed what very little I was bringing to the table

I would connect artists w/ producers...give them access to my studio equipment...had camera equipment to make low budget videos...equipment for “pressing” CDs...all that shyt became obsolete thanks to cell phones lol

ya but you potentially get to set your own hours doing something you want which is more conducive to your productivity...it makes a huge difference mentally

loved working for myself from 11AM-8PM 6 days a week v. working for someone from 8:30AM-4PM 5 days a week

hours were longer but I was far more excited about getting up and taking care of business

plus I was sleeping better since I was able to set better work hours for myself

What did you do work/entrepreneur wise to retire early breh? PM if needed to be disclosed :ohhh:

Edit -- I see commented later in the thread :salute:

I do like my job, and my commute isn’t that bad. I drive to the train station that’s 10 minutes away, and I get to the office 10 minutes later while I :umad: at everyone stuck in ATL traffic.

when I get my house,I’m going to set up a dope office so I’ll only have to come to the office for meetings.

it wasn’t any great plan...as I told someone in another thread it was a mixture of persistence/obsession and plain old luck

someone on another forum introduced the board to crypto via XRP...some (like myself) where skeptical...others recognized the opportunity for what it was immediately

once I got over my skepticism and eventually realized what a few others did...I became obsessed w/ the market and bcuz it was a relatively small and “young” market (one that could be easily influenced and/or manipulated) I was able to observe patterns and invest in certain projects to my benefit (like any market there were legit investments and outright scams...I was able to do a decent job of distinguishing one from the other)

I think my age and me being burnt out from work played a factor in me doing my best to make this work...if I were younger I would’ve been even more skeptical than I was and dismissed it entirely

my skepticism still “hurt” me cuz I would’ve cleaned up ridiculously if I had grabbed the bull by the horns early on but that’s easy to say in hindsight...it was new to me @ the time and I had absolutely no idea/clues about the industry

I’m not “balling”...no “lambo” as detractors like to joke around and say but I can live modestly for a quite a while w/o having to worry about working...I do not miss having a job but @ 45 it is hard learning to reinvent myself and create some new purpose that’ll allow me to meaningfully occupy my time w/o having to work for someone else (for better or for worse I was largely “defined” by my job) so that’s the new challenge

Why not pick up a part time job working 25hrs/wk doing something you like to do?

You're way ahead of most folks, average retirement ain't until 65 and it's folks working passed that. These next 10 years I need to grind and draw some sort of passive income. If I can live off part time work at 45 years old I'm happy

I consider myself fortunate. I have weekends off. I'm out of work by 4pm. For the most part, no one cares if I run late occasionally due to outside circumstances. It takes me about 12 minutes to get to/from work. Days usually don't drag.

But I STILL wake up some mornings saying fukk this work shyt.

It's natural, since the overwhelming majority of people working are doing something they don't have legit passion for.

nah...CANNOT do it

always hated the concept of work aka the rat race

but did it w/ a positive attitude cuz I had no choice

so made the best of it

once I realized I could retire...I went to work once then didn’t go back for almost a month...eventually went back once I fully committed to retiring and gave 3 weeks notice...those 3 weeks were the worst...I called in sick 4x during that stretch...working for someone @ this point is not an option...I absolutely understand some ppl do it and why...and I actually admire them for being able to find solitude in that...but that shyt is not for me...not even part time...there’s nothing I like to do once it involves having to report to someone else

Man that's extra motivation. I really want to invest in something, but I've never done it before and I'm scared to death of losing money! A few good brothers tried to explain it to me on here before, but it still sounds foreign to me, and I don't have anybody around me in real life who is financially literate and able to break things down simplistically for me...

I'm obsessed with building wealth year over year but have no vehicles to do it other than my current job and 401k. I'm in a great place emotionally, I'm financially at the healthiest place I've ever been, and I'm obsessed with continuing to grow each year. I just really need to understand investing...

I had to learn a lot on the fly...the whole market was completely foreign to me...learning about it was very much a second job and I made a lot of early mistakes...fortunately I didn’t lose $$$ but left a lot of $$$ on the table based off of “rookie” mistakes (falling victim to greed/euphoria) but it helped a lot that there were a few trustworthy posters on that forum that grouped together and helped each other as well...that made a huge difference
