The point is money to start doesn’t equal success, whether you want to rule out SV or not.

Every billionaire kid hasn’t gone on to make their own billions, money is just one part of the equation. It need to stop being used as a crutch to knock these dudes who end up building something that makes them a multi billionaire.

The irony of you saying this when we have Donald Trump, the poster boy for white privilege, in office is hilarious.

You want to call him a success? He’s the poster boy for money not meaning you’re successful.

lastly, once again, all these billionaire heirs, the majority of them don’t start anything of substance, they simply live off the money generated in previous generations.

Most billionaires come from a upper mild class background will educated parents. Growing up in that kind of environment gives them and advantage.

breh....

its a pretty huge leap from working at your parents real estate agency to being worth $40Bn

of course it helps to have connections....but theres a whole a lot of real estate agency owners that arent worth $40Bn....hell not even worth $1Bn

dude put in work

this is what frustrates me with us....instead of taking something positive from the story yall go straight to the 'yeah....but' :gucci:

oprah didn't have a network.....robert smith didnt either....

cats think like you do and wonder why they NEVER advance in life:unimpressed:
Yeah Gilbert did some work, no doubt but don't give us that bullshyt line "from delivering pizzas to befriending Warren Buffet". I hate that type of shyt. How he acted & those letters to LeBron when he left and took his talents to South Beach told us that Gilbert didn't really seam like a great shrewd businesman that could light up a room & by the end of the day millionaires we're writing him out a check just to be in business with him. He sounded and acted like a snake that was spoiled, privileged, and always got what he wanted. For all we know - just a theory - the Gilbert family had the entire Jewish community in Detroit & the state of Michigan backing them & he was handed a real estate license and connections just because of his family and lineage. And him cashing out & collecting the bag during the sub-prime loan scandal also tells you alot about his character. And to keep it 100 I could be wrong. Just tell the whole-true story that's all. It's 2020, don't say it's "from delivering pizzas to befriending Warren Buffet". Don't dress up his bio and repackage it for MAGA inspiration.

Having your parents wealth as a security blanket is a major advantage and allows you to take risks people without that security simply can't
Damn near all of these tech billionaires grew up rich. Gates, Bezos, Zuckerburg, Musk, etc. Zuckerburg could afford to drop out of Harvard and take that risk. A normal kid coming from a family making $50k a year views Harvard as THE golden ticket and can't afford to risk not getting that degree :yeshrug:

I think the point your missing is that nobody is saying these dudes aren't successful. They get all the props for taking that money and using it build. I think the contention is simply them touting their success store as a rags to riches which isn't true. They were handed a solid foundation and killed it by using that foundation and deserve all the credit in the world for that. But it's dishonest to fukk to act like they started with nothing and use that as proof of the American dream when most Americans (especially those that look like us) couldn't get their hands on hundreds of thousands to build from.

It's that old adage of how "Some people are born on third base and go through life thinking they hit a triple,".

There's a reason they say the best predictor of future wealth is family wealth. That wealth provides their kids the best chance to fukk up and bounce back from those fukk ups. A lot of people in the desirable jobs will tell hte story of having their parents fund them or pay for them to work internships while they chase their passions and why their is such a barrier to entry in a lot of fields just due to most people can't afford to live through the struggle cause they don't have that backing. Folks got bills.

Come breh don't say that.. So how many millions do you have if its so easy? I always hear the first million is the hardest to make
The first million is only hard because you don't know the formula. Once you get that down it's not hard.. I'll put it like this just look at what everyone else is doing and don't do that.. There's a reason why only like 8 or 9% of the people in the world are rich and the rest are middle class or poor..
