Age of the Record Label is dead.

We all know at this point that artists get money off shows and endorsements unless they're independent and get all proceeds from sales minus album pressing and paying for artwork.

Ain't nobody trying to sell albums now. It's all views and streams.

Rappers get popular on the internet, folks come to their shows, merch gets sold, artists get paid.

It's why 360 deals exist.

Hell, imagine if Q got booked for 15 shows over 3 months to perform his "hot" single, at even 5,000 per show.

That's a quarter mil.

Label may see none of that.

Why would an artist complain about record sales?

Only a label would complain about "record sales".

Although TDE has plenty on deck, the label also plans on giving each release its own space. “We like to give the artist their breathing room,” Sounwave explains. “Like, if Q's coming out, we like to put 100 percent focus on Q. Everybody on the label is gonna focus on Q and it's not like Q comes out and then the next week we're gonna put out another artist. No, we want that record to get as much recognition as possible so everybody's going to just push for that.”

He only raps on 4/5 songs and only 3 songs were RnB...:jbhmm:

I know those report cards were bleeding with Fs.:dame:
views not hip hop yet you come here to mention it in a hip hop related thread :patrice:

why you stanning so hard ?:jbhmm:

Anyways, Q's crowd isn't that big, and I don't think groovy tony's the kind of single people would buy, it's a bit too out there.

I mentioned it in the context of it not being HH. :what:

nikkas complaining that Views wasn't the album they wanted it to be (i.e. lots of rapping) when they don't purchase shyt so their "views" :lolbron: are irrelevant.

he aint lying though. the majority of those followers probably downloaded the single and will go on to download the album. im often guilty of this myself. :manny:these artist wanna be compensated for their work. simple. there really isnt an argument against this.

why worry about sales of a single? nobody buys those. be worried about if it's getting streamed enough on the multiple apps/sites to maintain enough attention for the album release. keep your artist in the minds of the consumers before they drop their album because that's where it matters. but idk if the trackers incorporate streams into single sales; if so, then yeah, it might be a little worrisome if the hyped up single isn't even getting plays on streaming sites.
