Native Americans aren't a homogenous group. The Seminole vote was not without controversy within their tribe as well as with other tribes.

They sold their likeness. Nothing more, nothing less.

There has always been controversy around using Native histories. I mean shyt, even using reservation land for casinos is a controversial topic.

Most of the people that are getting these payments are cacs. Those cacs are nothing more than two dollar indians that got on the Dawes Rolls when the Cac Congress put it together, it was a complete scam. That is why you have so many white people claiming Native American heritage. They see most of the benefits. The real Native Americans are suffering on reservations from alcoholism, drug abuse, suicide, violence, diabetes, etc. Don't think that being on reservations is a form of reparations. the white man never gave them reparations, they put them on reservations and gave them welfare, just like they put so-called black people in projects/public housing and gave them welfare. The white man (Esau) is evil and does not have it in his heart to do things right.

No black school would ever call themselves "The nikkas" and you know that so your point is wrong.

Places all across America -- roads, parks, villages, lakes, you name it -- had 'Nikka' in their name. Old people protested when the names were changed -- but changed, they were. Thank god for the Civil Rights Movement.

I think homie's point is that Dan Snyder is NOT Native American, the Washington Redskins are not owned by Native Americans in the majority or the minority, so it's not the same as real Amerindians calling themselves that. It's outsiders doing it.

If Squaw Mountain can get a name change to honor the first Native American woman killed in combat, then it should be an easier deal to change the name of a sports team............ a name which isn't even the team's original name. It's like Snyder is doubling down on the stupid of keeping the confederate flag as part of Alabama's state flag, when it was never part of the original state flag. Same deal, but easier, even less important.


Change the team name. If they want to keep the Amerindian motif, then choose the name of one of the indigenous peoples of the area. Any of them still around, or did they all get wiped out?

Dan Snyder isn't backing down from continuing to use his team's embattled nickname. Now the Washington Redskins' owner is trying to change perception by making a public overture towards American Indians.

In a letter posted Monday on the team's website

, Snyder announced the creation of the Washington Redskins Original Americans Foundation...

So this would be the equivalent of creating a Washington N*ggers African-Americans Foundation if the name of the team was the Washington N*ggers.
