It didn't. I was getting clowned right up until the mid 2000s when I was in high school. Thought was just my age group finally being mature until I heard my white teachers gushing over 3stacks and Wayne. When Drake came out, alot of girls my age, 17ish, were clownin his skin color. Thats around when I first started hearing non-hood rats say "stop acting lightskinned".

Something changed around 2010, im not sure what but the world flipped. Suburbanized latinas started openly fukking dark skinned dudes...nikkas started wearing their naps to job interviews and still got callbacks... My piss skinned cousin told me he wish he had my skin tone. Theres a shyt ton of "smash or pass" vids on youtube where these kids rejected, to their face, for being lightskinned....but then I remember the "you so black you purple jokes going up.":manny: Im glad that shyt didnt fukk me up as a child
The Kardashian's happened. The Kardashian's being aggressively open about their preference made the girls that looked up to them follow suit. Black men have always been the worlds biggest taboo and the Kardashian's, who are worshipped like royalty, tore the lid off all that shyt

The black mens change in hair is largely because of Wayne. Early-mid 2000s NOBODY had dreads. You had a low cut, the microphone fro, or you had braids

And even the braids were relatively bold for the time. As dreads became more ubiquitous more nikkas started getting bolder about rocking their grown out natural hair. Ross did the same for beards

This is where the foundation was laid for what we live in now

Yeah once his very rational and reasonable point threatened their narrative that only Black women suffer the adverse impacts of colourism as adults (which is obv bullshyt—being a dark skin Black man is literally dangerous because police and often other men perceive you as a threat, but I’ll leave that because they was talking about relationships) then they immediately derailed the conversation, dismissed and invalidated Dane’s experiences and even started INSULTING him. :mindblown:

I would not have chosen the high road with them broads. I woulda got combative back. But they know it’s hard to do that because women have so much leverage in social discourse nowadays that groupthink has essentially made any critical analysis of women’s behaviour by non-women untouchable.

Women obviously have very challenging shyt to deal with because they’re women but a society that can’t engage in civil discourse about itself is one that will eventually eat itself from the inside.

Not even tryna debate you , but I doubt police differentiate light skin and dark skin nikkas . They know we the same and see us mixed up anyways . Those 2 brothers thats down for those 2 Chicago cops are basically off white / yellow nikkas

The kirk to the fields
I think it a fake era where a lot of females just want to shyt on lite skin dudes

Ive literally had chicks i was fukking with including my ex
That would make negative comments about lite skin dudes to me
Like that was supposed to pump me up:jbhmm:

shyt was weird cause they were lits skin themselves and had lite skin male relatives :mjtf:

Facts! And the most hypocritical ones are the ones that still fukk with light skin dudes despite all the shyt talk

People only react like this when what they want never wanted them back. Statistically, these arguments can't make sense, just like the 80/20 rule that some fools believe in.

Colorism is so rife in the Caribbean it's disgusting. And it goes past being bitter about not getting chose by people you want, I mean attitudes towards light skin people compared to dark skins and that saddest part is, dark skin/brown skin people are the ones that perpetuate it the most, which allows light skin people to carry themselves with this air of expectancy of better treatment all because they're so used to being worshipped by low self esteem nikkas because they're closer to the complexion of their colonisers. It's like lesser racism, but from your own people.
Same in the US too. Don't believe the lies. We just as bad with it.:snoop:

These little group conversations where there are a group of men and women talking about problems only end one way :mjlol:

Man says something reasonable and the women start downplaying the situation, strawmanning, talking over him, verbally jumping him, etc

Any man engaging in a "debate" with this type of twitter birds is an idiot, i'M SORRY.

What happened to the old wisdom that you don't argue with women, especially foolish ones?

That’s Dane Baptise, real good guy from south London:

The host is:

She’s nice in the flesh, she’s local to east London and saw her on a humble when I was just chilling.

The confrontational one is:

She’s been off my radar since beefing with Giggs for giving a white girl an interview and ignoring her show. I’ve seen her in person and she checked me when I was with my girl. But she ain’t all that in person.

1) These conversations really shouldn't be happening on white owned networks
2) Zeze doesn't have the depth and nuance to constructively tackle a topic like this
3) Most debates surrounding colourism in 2021 are rooted in wanting white acceptance
4) Rather than looking at the people that don't find you attractive, you should appreciate those that do

The part I hate the most is this notion that dark skin men are "in".

There's no way I'd be in a 10 year drought if this were the case.
Man said 10 years :to:

This is why I don't engage in intellectual conversations with most women, any member of the lgbt or Caucasians. They tend to deflect, reject and misdirect the conversations. Better to save yourself the headache and just troll them.
