Mo Dee
Run DMC
LL
Kris
Rakim
Rick
Kane
LL
Puba
Big/Meth
etc...

Nas and Jay-Z are bonafide legends its going to take a Kendrick Lamar level talent from NY coming through and crushing the buildings to get that title.

Dave East spoke no lies

:mjlol:Kendrick? nikka please...We had one of those back in the days. His name was Keith Murray and he wasn’t cracking anybody’s top 5 at the time

Plus he doesn’t have the presence to hold the city down

This mentality has held back NY for decades

Imagine if Hov and Nas came thru thinking they could never surpass BDK and Rakim :snoop:
That doesn’t make sense, Hov and Nas are still out here though. It’s not like Atlanta dudes are coming out saying Future isn’t one of the chiefs just cause he came out 8 years ago. Not like people from Toronto are coming out saying Drake isn’t the king because he came out a decade ago.

If a dude falls off, he fell off. Jay dropped 4:44, better than all of these dudes albums except K Dot. Have bigger shows than all of these dudes except Drake. Still get the internet the most hype for his features and on. It’s not NY that is special, it’s Jay-z and Nas. NY not being able to reign supreme in hiphop has to do with the fact that it doesn’t make sense that 5-10% of the black population should run hiphop, like it once was if everyone else is rapping as well even to a higher degree. And imo, people who want to rap in NY aspiring to be lyrical instead of being 1 hit wonders or taking advantage probably didn’t help. The two that did that and blew up are both in jail.

How can jay-z sell out shows faster in Atlanta than Future and Migos

This makes your argument regarding it being NYs fault that Jay-z is hot, invalid.

It’s like saying that it’s strictly black people from Texas fault that Post Malone is a mega star. Or saying that it’s Texas fault than young RnB singers from Texas can’t blow up due to Beyoncé being from there.

Hiphop is a young mans game just like rock is, that is, it was created by young people for young people. Then those young people grew up and they still fukked with it and still performed it.

Last time I checked Madonna is still doing great tour wise

Rihanna, Adriana Grande, Bieber are the ones on the front lines tho

How can his features generate greater buzz? How can his cds sell more, even without streaming :dahell:

How can Kanye be hotter than these new guys in his most trash state? Dudes 45 or something and I see mad teens with his clothes and music. Is it Chicago’s fault or is it Kanye’s?
What about Eminem? Is it Detroit’s fault that he goes gold first week, 20 years later? Wayne’s been it for 21, just did 5-600k first week, I guess following your logic we’ve got to blame people in NO. I mean, it has nothing to do with these people, it’s just the cities they rep.

Oh I get it...lol

I’m not interested in Kanye not Eminem for examples because their hometowns simply don’t have the history of NYC

We are discussing why NYC still refers to two old men as the Kings of the city. Jay-Z continued to make hits over the years

Nas hasn’t had a song nikkax was rockin with en mass since 2003

It’s 2019

Now you mean to tell me two guys who are past their creative primes still getting cited as the best the city has to offer isn’t an indictment of the lack of talent currently within the city?
