Not true. A lot of the “spitters” that come out sound like what would have been generic mixtape rappers from 03. None of these new nikkas is kings of shyt because they ain’t better nor more successful than the guys before them. Especially considering those guys are still alive.
We bout to have the Don Q and J.R. Writer convo again? :lolbron:

I don't think 50 is "average". :camby:

I disagree that the last element of the genre is no longer valued. Y'all just can't accept change and to be honest maybe the youngings should claim a new genre :mjlol:
Good for you.

And you said yourself "the young boys ain't checking for rapping like that" and "everything is about melody" so how is the last element left (MCing) not gone? If hip-hop is more focused on melodies than rapping (not saying they can't share space) then the shyt is done.

And yes they should. A lot of this shyt isn't hip-hop, and it doesn't have to be. But every genre we have goes through this and it's about time.

Breh 50 is average as a rapper. I don't even know why that needs to be argued.

And none of these dudes being inferior to their predecessors is unique to New York, correct. You know the title King of New York has held weight due to it meaning you were best of the origin/Mecca of the genre. If you say the title no longer holds weight, fine, but when the last element of the genre is no longer valued even in it's birthplace, that's an issue. If these new nikkas is so innovative and "evolved" why can't they stand on their own feet and claim a new genre?

And none of this answers if he or his like is better or not. You keep hiding behind "relative". Even subjective things are subject to objective opinions/facts. So an answer shouldn't be that hard. It's better or it's not...

And Jay and Nas had similar success while staying consistent as those 2 burned out. And your last sentence already tells me where your mind so I shouldn't even have responded.
DMX and 50 burned out and yet still remain two of the 10 most successful rappers of all-time. Nas went plat for like 8 years and then fell off. Jay had other artists help him remain successful so sure, he didnt burn out. And consistent my ass. If you stan Jay and Nas, more power to you but lmao at acting like they been so consistent.

Jay and Nas are currently the two most successful rappers. Can still pack venues, headline festivals, and countless ventures. And all this without 360 deals.

Then why the need for pitch correction? Agree to disagree. Especially the 2nd song.

How many rappers go Platinum for 8 years? And really it's 12 years, with 3 of the 8 being Double Platinum. And you say about Jay as if the nikka you're named after doesn't do that.
8 Platinum+ albums over 12 years.
13 Platinum+ albums over 21 years.

You are an ass if that's not consistent.

I was talking about quality music.

And a lot of rappers have gone plat for 8 years.

Eminem
Wayne
T.I.
Luda
Kendrick
Drake
Cole
Nicki

Travis and Cardi will. Uzi will. Post will.

Nas never been on top past 94. Jay never been on top. They not the current kings right now. Young people dont gaf about them right now. There's a new era. Cardi got the best case and she's a female. If not her, it's definitely A Boogie

I wasn't even talking about the kony shyt. I was responding to what you said. But speaking to that statement. They can't do it on that level. Nicki contract probably ain't even right. And 50 been flamed out.

Quality music wasn't made by Nas and Jay for over a decade?

Wayne does not have an 8 year streak of Platinum albums let alone 13, or 8 straight Plat albums, all that shyt between the Carter series were put out as albums.
T.I. did not go Plat for 8 years.

We have to see with Travis, Cardi, or Post in this ADD era. Post is another artist I don't consider a rapper and really Travis shouldn't be either.

50 need to be mentioned in this too :mjlit:

And actually 50 had it on lock in his prime moreso than Jay or Nas ever did :mjpls:
50 can't really be mentioned because he isn't critically acclaimed on top of having the city on tilt and in the palm of his hands for an extended period. 50 met all the qualifications except for the most important, being arguably the best rapper. Biggie and Nas and Jay-z are on a whole different level than 50 ever was on some King MC shyt.
