I see your point with this argument. What I'm trying to say is that while people fukk with the music that is considered good, why alienate the positive side of what some artists are bringing to the table? There are some folks that just want to punch a wall because folks are getting tired of the druggy shyt and want something with a bit of substance to the music. This is coming from a dude that's a big No Limit fanboy and often bump ignorant shyt, but my true passion has always been raps that have a bit of depth to it. Migos can only go so far in my life. I'm 32 years old...I can't relate to whipping dope with an uzi, but I damn sure can relate to what Phonte talks about as far as love, paying the bills, and family members tooting their noses up at his life choices. -

Death of a popstar was:ohlawd:

the premise is not wrong

you don't have to have crazy rhyme schemes or insane wordplay

what you can't do however is have terrible lyrics and letting the beat carry you like alot of these mumble rappers

:mjlol:nikka quick as hell with them receipts. So you a c00n, that's even worse. Up here typing up novels about how smart rappers are all dumb and all music should be dumbed down for you to enjoy :martin:

For the record this is who you're arguing with:

Remember When Napolean aka 4d 6f 6e 65 79 Sh!tted On Black Folks For Supporting Mike Brown.?

And out of his own mouth he ain't black, so I don't know whose hand he's paying to take pictures of:

That's always been the case. I could bump a Future track in the mist of playing Overwatch, but on a normal day I would rather listen to some beat tapes or old Little Brother albums. Call me a herb or a backpacker but trust me, hearing the same shyt on the radio can change your spirit on a nasty level. Folks don't realize that. Its not a matter of intelligent raps>>>>>ignorant shyt, but it's more so to balance out your mind, body and spirit. Music is entertainment, but it can also dictate the way you live.

Dude is a weirdo Drake stan which is why this thread exists. The ulterior motive is to criticize Kendrick Lamar.

Fred.

Yep. I exposed that in my first post in this thread. Didn't even look and see who the thread starter was but it all makes sense now.

Except ya'll aint' with David Banner like that, so this is just another Kendrick bashing thread. :russell:

Now that we got that out of the way....fukk what David Banner is talking about. There's a lot of problems with the current state of rap but it being too lyrical or too conscious ain't it. This clown picked arguably the least lyrical and least conscious point in rap history to debate this point. Then to add insult to injury his talking points are being used to criticize Kendrick Lamar.

I've said alot of the same things you're saying in this thread and most people on the coli think that music has zero affect on the subconscious mind and the spirit.

They truly think its "just entertainment".

It's not just The Coli but reality in general. Folks are too caught up in the world concerning stuff that's considered the in thing, but not embracing the mere fact that they are being told what's hot and whats not. You have a generation of non-free thinkers that would rather get turnt on a club song, but not balance that shyt with the good. Hence why there's walking zombies out here waiting to be told what's the next dope track. There's no such thing as moderation or understanding what's harmful to the mind, body, and soul...it's just fukk it with people.

What can you do except try to lead example:ehh:

He's basically saying you can be lyrical in your verses but pick catchy beats and make catchy hooks. Don't be afraid to make a club record and spit on it
